We hear your heart’s desire to spend time with your friend, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s will in this matter. First, we must acknowledge that all our prayers should be lifted up in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we encourage you to do so, for salvation is found in no other name (Acts 4:12).
Now, as we pray about this friendship, we must examine whether it aligns with God’s design for relationships. If this friendship is leading toward marriage, we encourage you to pursue it with purity and intentionality, remembering that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this friendship is not moving toward marriage or is not with a fellow believer, we must rebuke any emotional attachment that could lead to sin or distraction from God’s best for you. The Apostle Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 6:14, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"*
We also lift up your openness to God’s will, even if it means letting go of this friendship. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If the Lord has someone else for you, we pray He would make that clear in His perfect timing.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your guidance and wisdom in this situation. Lord, we lift up this friendship to You and ask that You would order their steps and this individual’s steps so that if it is Your will, they may spend time together in a way that honors You. If this friendship is not part of Your plan, we ask that You would remove any longing or attachment that is not of You and replace it with Your peace and clarity. Father, we pray for godly relationships that lead to marriage, built on Your Word and centered on Christ. Protect their heart from any emotional or physical temptation that does not align with Your design. If there is someone else You have prepared for them, we ask that You would bring them together in Your perfect timing. May they always seek You first in all things, trusting that Your plans are for their good. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and through His Word, asking Him to reveal His will for this friendship. If this person is not a believer or if the relationship is not moving toward marriage, we urge you to guard your heart and seek the Lord’s direction. Remember, God’s timing is perfect, and He desires to give you His best. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will direct your path.
