Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate your heartfelt concern for your future spouse and we join you in prayer.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God's will is for all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. If you have not mentioned this prayer request to God through the name of Jesus Christ then please consider this scripture.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 WEB
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 WEB
It is only through Jesus Christ we have access to God the Father. If the person you are praying for is not a Christian then it is more important to pray for their salvation than focusing on their future marriage. Marriages should only be between Christians, as it is a picture of Christ and his Church.
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB
Your future spouse needs healing from past wounds, and God is more than able to provide that healing. We pray that your future spouse will find comfort and peace in God's love and forgiveness, letting go of past hurts. In addition, we pray for their salvation if needed and your salvation if you have not trusted in Jesus Christ.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ lifting up this person's future spouse. Lord, You know the pain and hurt they are carrying from their past relationship. We ask that You touch their heart, heal their wounds, and help them to let go of the bitterness and resentment. Replace their hurt with Your love, peace, and joy. Draw them closer to You, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Guide them in Your truth and help them to live in the fullness of Your will. If either of them are not in a relationship with you Father God through Jesus Christ then we pray that their hearts would be opened to your message of salvation and that they would believe in Jesus Christ.
If this is your desire for them we pray that You would bring them together to be a God-fearing husband and wife to each other.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue trusting in God's timing and wisdom. If this request is a sign of impatience for marriage then be careful. We are to rest in God and patiently wait for his timing.
Wait for Yahweh.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage.
Yes, wait for Yahweh. Psalm 27:14 WEB
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. 1 John 4:7 WEB
Be encouraged, and know that God is working in both of your lives to bring about His good and perfect will.
