Praying for a ###'s situation in ###

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Dear friends, I humbly ask you to join me in praying for my former colleague, ###, who is currently facing a very difficult situation in ###. ###, already in his senior years, lost his employment due to localization and is unable to exit the country because of unpaid loans. Despite his efforts, he is struggling to find work as age and localization policies make it even more challenging. Please help me lift him up in prayer—that God may open doors for him to find employment so he can begin repaying his obligations, and one day be able to reunite with his family. His greatest hope is to return home and be with his elderly mother, who is in her 80s, ill, and undergoing dialysis. Sadly, he has already endured the heartbreak of losing his brother while being unable to go home, and he prays he won’t have to face the same with his mother. May the Lord grant ### strength, comfort, and the miracle of opportunity, so he may find work and eventually be released from this situation. May he be blessed with reunion, healing, and peace. Thank you so much for your kind prayers and support. God bless you all!

We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this dear brother who is enduring such profound trials. His situation weighs deeply on us, for we know how the Lord cares for the afflicted and hears the cries of those who call upon Him. Yet we must first address that while this request is earnest, it does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). And again, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is only through faith in Jesus that we can approach the throne of grace, and it is in His name we must pray. So let us now lift this brother before the Lord Jesus, trusting in His power to move in this impossible situation.

The struggles this man faces—unemployment in his senior years, the weight of debt trapping him in a foreign land, the agony of separation from his aging and ailing mother—are burdens no one should bear alone. Yet we know our God is the God of the impossible, the One who parts seas, provides manna in the wilderness, and turns mourning into dancing. The Psalmist reminds us, *"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). And in Matthew 11:28, Jesus Himself invites, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* We claim these promises over this brother today, asking the Lord to be his Provider, his Comforter, and his Deliverer.

Yet we must also speak truth in love: if this man does not know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, no amount of temporal relief—employment, debt repayment, or reunion with family—will bring him true peace. The greatest miracle he could receive is salvation through faith in Christ. *"For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?"* (Mark 8:36, WEB). So we pray not only for his circumstances but for his soul, that if he does not yet know Jesus, the Lord would draw him into a saving relationship with Himself. For it is in Christ alone that we find hope that does not disappoint, even in the darkest valleys.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this brother who is trapped in a land not his own, burdened by debt, and separated from his family in their time of greatest need. Lord, You see his tears, You hear his cries, and You know the depth of his despair. We ask You, Jehovah Jireh, to provide for him supernaturally. Open doors of employment that no man can shut, even in his advanced age. Soften the hearts of those who hold his debts, that they may show mercy and grant him favor. You, Lord, are the One who sets captives free—break the chains of financial bondage that keep him from his mother’s side.

Father, we pray for his elderly mother, who is sick and undergoing dialysis. Strengthen her body, Lord, and sustain her until they can be reunited. Comfort her in her suffering, and surround her with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Do not let the enemy steal the joy of their reunion—let this brother witness Your faithfulness as You make a way where there seems to be no way.

Lord, if this man does not yet know You, we pray that in this season of trial, You would reveal Yourself to him as the God who saves. Draw him to Jesus, that he may repent and place his faith in Christ alone for salvation. Let him experience the peace that comes from being reconciled to You, for that is a treasure no circumstance can take away.

We rebuke the spirit of despair, hopelessness, and fear that seeks to overwhelm him. Instead, we declare that Your joy will be his strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Remind him that You have not forgotten him, that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28), and that Your plans for him are for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Father, we ask for divine connections—godly people who can offer wisdom, assistance, or opportunities. Let Your church rise up to be Your hands and feet in this situation. Provide for his daily needs, protect him from harm, and guard his heart against bitterness or unbelief.

Finally, Lord, we pray for a miracle of reunion. Let him hold his mother again, Lord. Let him be a testimony of Your goodness and faithfulness to all who witness his story. We ask these things in the powerful name of Jesus, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.

To those reading this, we encourage you: do not cease praying for this brother. The enemy would love for him to believe he is forgotten, but we know the truth—our God is a God who sees (Genesis 16:13) and who acts on behalf of His children. Keep lifting him up, and if you are able, consider how the Lord might use you to be part of the answer to this prayer. Perhaps you can share this request with others who will pray, or if you have wisdom or resources to offer, seek the Lord on how to extend help.

We also urge this brother, if he is reading: cling to the Lord. If you do not yet know Jesus, surrender your life to Him today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be your Lord. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). No matter what happens in this earthly struggle, your eternal security in Christ is the greatest victory.

Finally, let us all be reminded: *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Trust Him, even in the waiting.
