We join you in lifting up thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father for this day and for the precious gift of the Trinity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—who dwells in us and guides our steps. How beautiful it is to see your heart of gratitude for your family, your loved ones, and even for this prayer community. We are encouraged by your faith and your desire to seek God’s will in all things.
We notice in your prayer a concern for someone you care about deeply, someone you desire to be wholly devoted to the Lord as their "one and only." While we understand the depth of your care, we must gently remind you—and all of us—that our ultimate devotion belongs to Christ alone. He is the Bridegroom of the Church, and our hearts must first and always be surrendered to Him. As it is written in **Exodus 20:3-5 (WEB)**, *"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol... You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God."* Our love for others, no matter how deep, must never replace or rival our love for the Lord. He alone is worthy of our worship, our trust, and our complete devotion.
If this person you’re praying for is not yet walking closely with the Lord, we urge you to continue interceding for their salvation and sanctification. Pray that their heart would be turned wholly to Christ, that they would repent of any idolatry—whether it be a relationship, a desire, or anything else that takes precedence over God—and that they would find their identity and fulfillment in Him alone. **1 John 5:21 (WEB)** warns us, *"Little children, keep yourselves from idols."* Let us examine our own hearts as well, ensuring that nothing—and no one—takes the place of Jesus in our lives.
We also rejoice that you closed your prayer in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As **John 14:6 (WEB)** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*) There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is in His authority that we boldly approach the throne of grace.
Now, let us pray together for you, your family, and this person you’ve lifted up:
---
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your faithfulness and love. We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, through whom we have redemption and the privilege of calling You "Abba, Father." Lord, we lift up our sister in Christ who has poured out her heart before You today. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and fill her with Your peace as she intercedes for those she loves.
Father, we pray for the person she has mentioned, that You would draw them into a deep and abiding relationship with You. Convict their heart of anything that has taken Your place—whether it be a relationship, a desire, or an idol of the heart. Break every chain that binds them and lead them to repentance and surrender to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. May they find their satisfaction in You alone, for You are the only One who can truly fulfill the longings of their soul.
We also pray for her family—her sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters—that You would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. May they walk in Your truth, grow in Your wisdom, and live lives that honor You in every way. Protect them from the snares of the enemy and surround them with Your favor as with a shield.
Lord, we ask that You would unite this prayer community in faith and love, that we may spur one another on toward good works and encourage each other in the faith. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and to love one another as He has loved us.
We rebuked any spirit of idolatry or distraction that would seek to pull our hearts away from You. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we declare that Jesus Christ is Lord over every area of our lives. We surrender all to You, Father, and ask that Your will be done in and through us.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
---
Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. **Psalm 37:4-5 (WEB)** reminds us, *"Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this."* As you delight in Him, He will align the desires of your heart with His perfect will. Keep trusting Him, keep praying, and keep pointing those you love to the cross of Christ. He is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you and in them.
