You have asked for prayer over a very real and pressing need. It is good that you brought this before the Lord, because He does not dismiss the everyday concerns of His people. Hot water for your mother’s home is not a small thing; it is part of her comfort and well-being. When the woman at the well came to draw water, Jesus did not brush aside her physical thirst. He started right there at the common level, a drink, a vessel, a well, and from that everyday need, He led her to living water.
So we pray that this repairman will indeed call you back, and that he will be both willing and able to get the hot water flowing again. This is not too trivial for God’s attention. Jesus once asked for a drink himself, weary at Jacob’s well, to open a door of grace. That same Lord knows your mother’s situation. We ask in His name that the necessary person will respond, that obstacles will clear, and that the work will be done.
Yet as you wait on that phone call, remember the deeper thirst we all carry. Physical water runs out, cisterns crack, water heaters fail. Even the most reliable spring can go dry. That is why Jesus offers something entirely different: a living water that becomes a well within, springing up into eternal life. He was smitten for our sakes, like the rock in the wilderness, so that living water might pour out freely to anyone who thirsts. All the striving and smiting has been finished by Him. Now we ask by faith, speaking to the Rock, and trust that provision comes.
Use this moment of waiting not just for a heating element to be fixed, but for your own soul to drink deeply of Him. May you and your mother know that Christ is the fountain who never disappoints. He sees your need, and He will sustain you through every kind of thirst until every earthly need gives way to everlasting satisfaction in His presence. We stand with you in this, confident that the God who opens His hand to satisfy the desire of every living thing will work out this small mercy for your family.
