We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, seeking His forgiveness and guidance. The Scriptures remind us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Let us humbly confess our sins before God, knowing that He is merciful and just to forgive.
Father in Heaven, we acknowledge that we have fallen short of Your glory. We have sinned in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We ask for Your forgiveness, Lord. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and create in us clean hearts, O God. Renew a right spirit within us, as David prayed in Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me."
We also seek Your guidance, Lord. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We surrender our plans and desires to You, asking that You direct our steps according to Your will. Help us to discern Your voice amidst the noise of the world and to follow the path You have set before us.
Lord, we pray that You would grant us wisdom and understanding. James 1:5 assures us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." We ask for Your wisdom to navigate the challenges and decisions we face. Guide us in Your truth and teach us Your ways, for You are our God and Savior.
We also lift up those who may be struggling with guilt and shame. Remind them of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, where He paid the price for our sins once and for all. Hebrews 10:17-18 says, "I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin." Let them find peace in the knowledge that they are forgiven and loved by You.
Father, we pray that You would help us to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Colossians 3:13 instructs us, "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do." Teach us to extend grace and mercy to those who have wronged us, just as You have extended grace and mercy to us.
Lord, we ask that You would fill us with Your Holy Spirit, empowering us to live lives that are pleasing to You. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law." May these fruits be evident in our lives as we seek to honor You.
We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. There is no other name by which we can be saved, as Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and ask that You continue to draw us closer to You each day.
Amen.
