We rejoice with you in this season of accomplishment and new beginnings! It is a blessing to see the hard work and dedication of your son as he prepares to step into this next chapter of his life. The Lord has been faithful to bring him this far, and we trust He will continue to guide and provide as your son seeks His will in all things.
The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* As your son prepares for college, let us encourage him—and you—to commit this journey to the Lord, trusting that He will direct his steps, open the right doors, and surround him with godly influences. College can be a time of great growth, but it also comes with many temptations and distractions. We pray he remains steadfast in his faith, seeking first God’s kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
We also lift up a prayer of protection over him, that the Lord would guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May he be rooted in the Word, discerning truth from deception, and surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ who will encourage him in his walk. Let him remember the words of Joshua 1:9, *"Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go."*
It is wonderful that you are proud of him—celebrate this milestone! But let us also remind you both that his true identity and worth are found in Christ alone, not in academic achievements or worldly success. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."*
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of this young man and the work You have done in his life. Lord, as he prepares for this new season in college, we ask that You would go before him, making his paths straight. Fill him with Your wisdom, discernment, and courage. Protect him from the snares of the enemy and surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May he seek You first in all things, growing deeper in his relationship with You and walking in obedience to Your Word.
Lord, we pray for divine connections—godly friends, mentors, and professors who will speak truth into his life. Guard his heart from pride, distraction, or compromise, and let him be a light for You on that campus. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a passion to serve You in every area of his life. We also lift up his family, asking that You would strengthen and encourage them as they support him in this transition.
We declare Your promises over him, that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that he will prosper in all he does as he delights in Your law (Psalm 1:1-3). May this season be one of spiritual growth, godly discipline, and a deeper reliance on You. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue covering him in prayer daily. The battles he will face are spiritual, and our weapons of warfare are mighty through God (2 Corinthians 10:4). Stay connected to him, not just as a proud parent, but as a spiritual guide, pointing him always to Christ. If he does not yet have a strong foundation in a local church or Christian community at his college, pray that the Lord would lead him to one where he can be discipled and grow. God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has started in your son (Philippians 1:6).
