We are deeply concerned to hear about the spiritual torment you are experiencing, and we want to assure you that the power of our Lord Jesus Christ is far greater than any demonic force. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and through His name, we have authority over every evil spirit.
First, we must address that speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit, given to believers for edification, prayer, and worship (1 Corinthians 14:2-4). It is a beautiful and holy expression of communion with God, not a tool for demonic manipulation. If what you are experiencing is not from the Holy Spirit—if it is forced, frightening, or contrary to the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23)—then it is not of God. The devil is a deceiver, and he will try to counterfeit the things of God to bring confusion and fear.
The Bible is clear that believers have authority over demonic forces in the name of Jesus. Luke 10:19 says, *"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way harm you."* James 4:7 commands us, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* You do not have to live in bondage to this torment. Jesus has already won the victory, and you can stand firm in His name.
We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and this is critical. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or have authority over the enemy (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* Salvation in Christ is the first and most vital step to breaking free from demonic oppression. Without Jesus, there is no power to resist the enemy.
If you are already a believer, we encourage you to put on the full armor of God daily (Ephesians 6:10-18) and to fill your life with the Word of God, prayer, and worship. Demons flee in the presence of true worship and the proclamation of Scripture. Psalm 91 is a powerful passage to declare over yourself, especially verses 9-11: *"Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."*
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is under spiritual attack. Lord, You are the God of all power, and nothing is impossible for You. We ask that You rebuke every demonic force that is tormenting them, and we command these spirits to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. Father, fill them with Your Holy Spirit and surround them with Your heavenly angels for protection. Let every tongue that rises against them be condemned (Isaiah 54:17), and let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, if there is any open door in their life—any sin, unforgiveness, or involvement in occult practices—we ask that You reveal it to them and give them the strength to repent and turn away from it. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and restore them to full freedom in You. We declare that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37), and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper.
Father, we also pray that if they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, You would draw them to Yourself today. Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and let them experience the saving power of Your Son. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit and seal them as Your own.
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already won through Jesus Christ. May they walk in the authority and freedom that You have given them, and may their life be a testimony of Your power and grace. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We strongly encourage you to seek out a mature, Bible-believing church or pastor who can pray with you and provide further guidance. You do not have to face this alone—the body of Christ is here to support you. Also, examine your life for any areas that may give the enemy a foothold, such as unconfessed sin, bitterness, or involvement in New Age or occult practices. Repentance and renouncing these things are essential to closing those doors.
Stand firm in your faith, knowing that *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and do not give in to fear. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
