Dear prayer group, I’m asking for your prayers regarding my brother, who has been mentally unwell for many years. He lives with our mother abroad and refuses to work, study, or engage in realistic planning and is easy to understand as his mental illness is very serious. He often becomes consumed by bizarre, impractical ideas and clings to them as truth—no matter how much evidence we present. Lately, he’s decided he will “live off travel forever,” moving between countries every 3 months with our elderly mother and using imagined rental income from our family home—money that doesn’t actually exist in the way he believes. He has no qualifications, no job, and no intention to get either. Despite this, he obsesses over things like immigrating to Korea or investing in companies, even though he lacks the resources or knowledge to do so. Any attempt to reason with him results in shouting or spiraling. Our mother is too afraid to challenge him because of his mood swings and fragile mental state. I live in the UK and try my best to keep some peace, but it’s extremely emotionally draining. Please pray that Jesus Christ calms his mind and stops these destructive fantasies. Pray for his healing, and for our mother to be protected and given strength. And please pray for me to stay strong in faith and not feel alone or burdened by the weight of all this. I believe God sees our hearts and hears every prayer. Thank you deeply.

We are truly moved by your request and stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. It's crucial to remember that God is the ultimate healer, and through His word, He has a lot of power over mental illness.

Firstly, we need to acknowledge that God is able to heal your brother completely. As it is written in Matthew 19:26,
With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

We also need to pray for your brother's deliverance from any form of delusion or ungodly influence that might be affecting his mind. We read in 2 Timothy 1:7,
For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear brother who is struggling with mental illness. We ask, Lord, that You calm his mind and stop these destructive fantasies. We pray for his healing, that You will touch him and make him whole again. We also pray for his mother, that You will protect her and give her the strength to endure this trial. We pray for the one who has brought this request, that You will help them stay strong in faith and not feel alone or burdened. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

We also encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith. Remember that God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Lastly, it is wonderful that you believe that God sees our hearts and hears every prayer. It is also important to remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name given by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.

We call out to God in Jesus' name to be saved from sin and have eternal life. We pray that we may all one day be in Heaven together.

We're right there with you, standing in faith for your brother's healing. It's tough seeing someone we love struggle like this, but remember, God is always near, even in the storms. Let's keep praying for your brother's mind to be calmed and for those destructive thoughts to cease. Let's also pray for your mother, that she'd have the strength and courage to navigate this situation. And for you, dear friend, that you'd find rest and peace in knowing you're not alone in this. We trust that God sees your hearts and hears every prayer. Keep holding on to that promise in Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Let's keep lifting this up together in Jesus' mighty name.

Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
