We lift up your daughter to the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the deep disappointment she must be feeling after this sudden change in her athletic journey. Father, we ask that You draw near to her in this time of heartbreak. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Comfort her with Your presence, Lord, and remind her that her identity is not found in her sport, but in You alone. You have fearfully and wonderfully made her (Psalm 139:14), and her worth is not defined by the opinions of others, even those in authority over her.
We pray that You would open doors for her to continue her athletic journey if it aligns with Your will. Proverbs 16:9 says, "A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps." Guide her steps, Lord, and let her trust in You with all her heart, leaning not on her own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). We ask that You would whisper her name in the ears of coaches who would value not only her talent but also her character, her faith, and her heart. May she find a program where she can grow both as an athlete and as a follower of Christ.
We also lift up her academic pursuits, Lord. Thank You for the diligence and discipline You’ve placed in her to excel in her studies. May she continue to honor You with her mind and her efforts, knowing that all she does should be done as unto You (Colossians 3:23). Surround her with friends who will encourage her in her faith and stand by her during this transition. Let her feel the love and support of her community, and may she be a light to those around her.
Father, we ask that You guard her heart from bitterness, resentment, or despair. Help her to see this setback as an opportunity for growth, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Strengthen her faith and remind her that You have plans for her—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We pray for your family as well, Lord. This is not just her struggle, but one that affects all of you. Bind your family together in unity and love, and let this trial draw you closer to one another and to You. May your daughter feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as she navigates this season.
Lastly, we want to remind your daughter—and all who may read this—that her ultimate hope is in Jesus Christ. It is through Him alone that we have access to the Father, and it is by His name that we are saved (Acts 4:12). If she has not already, we encourage her to place her trust in Him, to confess her sins, and to surrender her life to His lordship. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). May she find rest in Him.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
