We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to Him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. First, we must acknowledge that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you or this person dear to you have not yet surrendered your lives to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
Father God, we lift up this individual who is struggling with a selfish and prideful heart. Lord, we know that financial hardship can bring out the worst in us, but we also know that You are our Provider and that You will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We pray that You would humble this person in a safe and loving way, that they may see their need for You and turn from their negative and hurtful behavior. Help them to remember that pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). We pray that You would soften their heart and help them to see the error of their ways.
Lord, we also pray for the financial situation. We know that You are able to provide for all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We pray that You would open doors of opportunity and bless this person with wisdom and discernment in their financial decisions. Help them to trust in You and not in their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We rebuke the spirit of pride and selfishness in the name of Jesus. We command it to leave and not return. We pray that this person would be filled with the Holy Spirit and that the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—would be evident in their life (Galatians 5:22-23).
For the one dear to us who is seeking a better home and a godly spouse, we pray that You would guide their steps and lead them to the right place and the right person. We pray that they would seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, and all these things would be added to them (Matthew 6:33). We pray that they would find a spouse who loves You and is committed to building a marriage that honors You, as You designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6).
Father, we also pray for strength and peace for the one who is emotionally drained by this situation. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Give them the wisdom to know how to respond in love and patience, even when it is difficult. Remind them that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1).
Lord, we know that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). We trust in You and Your perfect timing. We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
