Beloved of All
God knows every detail of the five requests you hold silently in your heart, even the ones you have not put into words. You do not need to explain them for Him to understand. What matters is that you are bringing them before the One who fills heaven and earth. That is the address of prayer: our Father who created all things. When we are overwhelmed and all we can see is the problem looming like a giant, prayer refocuses our eyes on the One who holds the answer.
True prayer is not merely about getting our wishes fulfilled. It begins with God, with His purposes and His will. Our first concern should be His kingdom, and then our own personal needs follow. There is nothing wrong with personal petitions. We are meant to cast our burdens on Him, to turn our cares into prayers with thanksgiving, trusting that He will sustain us. The kind of prayer that rises from a heart of desperation, the effectual fervent prayer, avails much because it rests on His power, not our own.
Be careful though with the burdens you carry. Many times we take on heavy weights that God never placed on our shoulders, burdens from others or from our own expectations. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Do not mistake the crushing weight you might feel for something He has given you. Lay it all before Him instead. If there is any hidden sin or any way where you have been relying on your own strength, release that now.
When you pray, let it also stretch beyond your own needs into intercession for the lost and hurting world around you. But right now, know that there is confidence in bringing your unspoken requests simply to Him. You are not hiding anything from the One who sees all. The prayer of faith knows He is willing to give for both physical and spiritual needs. Let the church stand with you in agreement, joining our faith with yours, so that your trust is anchored not in what flesh can do, but in the God whose shadow is a dwelling place of rest.
