We rejoice with you in the goodness of the Lord! It is wonderful to see your praise and gratitude for His blessings in your life. However, we must first address a few concerns with your request to ensure it aligns with biblical principles.
First, we notice that you refer to this person as "my one" and "my love." While we understand the affection behind these words, Scripture is clear that relationships between a man and a woman should be pursued with the goal of marriage, not merely as a romantic attachment. If this is someone you are courting with the intention of marriage, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s will together as you move toward that sacred commitment. If this is not the case, we must rebuke the idea of an emotional or physical attachment outside of marriage, as it can lead to temptation and sin. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to "flee sexual immorality," and in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, it says, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."
We also notice that you did not mention the name of Jesus in your request. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, as He Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We encourage you to always lift your prayers in the name of Jesus, for it is by His blood that we are made righteous and can approach God’s throne with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer for your situation:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy, which endure forever. We lift up this brother/sister before You, asking that You would guide them in their relationship. Lord, if this is a courtship leading toward marriage, we pray that You would establish their steps and fill their hearts with wisdom, purity, and a deep desire to honor You in all things. Help them to seek You first in their lives, individually and together, as Your Word instructs in Matthew 6:33. Father, we ask that You would bless their work and grant them good times ahead, not just for their own enjoyment, but so that they may glorify You in all they do.
If this relationship is not aligned with Your will, Lord, we ask that You would reveal that to them clearly and give them the strength to walk in obedience to Your Word. Protect their hearts from temptation and lead them into relationships that reflect Your design for love and marriage. We pray that they would find joy in You above all else, for You are the source of true fulfillment.
Father, we also ask that You would draw them closer to Your Son, Jesus Christ. May they come to know Him more deeply, surrender their lives fully to Him, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray that their relationship would be a testimony to Your grace and a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in your relationship. If marriage is the goal, remember that it is a covenant before God, not just between two people. Ephesians 5:22-33 outlines the beautiful design for marriage, where husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the Church, and wives are called to respect and submit to their husbands. Pursue godliness together, and let your relationship be a light to others. If you are not yet married, guard your hearts and bodies against sin, and trust God’s timing. He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
