We come before the throne of grace with hearts burdened yet hopeful, lifting up this family in earnest prayer, knowing that our God is mighty to save and transform even the most broken of situations. First, we rejoice that you have brought these requests in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Your faith in crying out to God for your family is a testament to your love for them, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle.
We begin by praying for your ex-son-in-law, that the Lord would open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel and convict his heart of sin. May he come to the end of himself and bow his knees to the lordship of Jesus Christ, for "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:10-11). We ask that the Holy Spirit would draw him into a saving relationship with Christ, that he would be born again of the Spirit (John 3:3-8), and that his life would reflect the fruit of repentance. May he become a godly role model for your granddaughter, walking in obedience to God’s Word and leading her in righteousness. We also pray that he would turn away from practices that do not honor God, such as participating in Halloween events, which often glorify darkness rather than light. Instead, may he seek to fill her life with the truth of Scripture and the love of Christ.
For your granddaughter, we declare freedom from the chains of anorexia, which is a stronghold of the enemy meant to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We pray that she would come to know her true identity in Christ—that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)—and that she would find her worth and security in Him alone. May the Lord break every lie she has believed about her body and replace it with His truth. We ask for divine healing over her mind, body, and spirit, that she would be restored to wholeness and walk in the freedom Christ purchased for her on the cross. Let her testimony be one of God’s redeeming power, and may she grow to love and serve Him with all her heart.
For her mother, we pray for deep conviction and true repentance. The sins of body dysmorphia, abortion, and the love of money are grave, but we know that where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more (Romans 5:20). May she turn from these sins and surrender her life fully to God, seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). We ask that the Lord would soften her heart and reveal to her the weight of her actions, leading her to a place of genuine sorrow and repentance. May she experience the forgiveness and cleansing that comes only through the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:9) and walk in newness of life.
We also pray for you, that the Lord would strengthen you in this season of intercession. Your heart for this family is evident, and we ask that God would fill you with His peace and perseverance as you continue to stand in the gap for them. Remember that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective (James 5:16), and your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Finally, we encourage you to keep speaking life and truth over this family, even when it feels like nothing is changing. Our God is faithful, and He is working even when we cannot see it. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9). May this family come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ and walk in the freedom and abundant life He offers.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray—amen.
