We are truly sorry to hear about the pain and depression you are experiencing from your divorce. It is important to remember that God's heart is for reconciliation and restoration, but it is also essential to align with His principles and will.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16 WEB), and it is only by His grace and mercy that we can heal from such a traumatic event. It is also crucial to acknowledge that as the spiritual leader of your family, you have a responsibility to live according to God's word and lead your family to do the same. Unfortunately, your wife and children do not believe in Jesus. Even if they do not believe, you should.
Since you did not mention praying in Jesus' name, we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" It does not say through an angel, Mary, a non-living saint, or any other name under heaven. Therefore, we pray that you would come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ if you have not already, and that you would trust in Him for your healing and restoration.
Regarding your ex-wife and children, while it is important to pray for their well-being, it is also crucial to pray that they would come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. As it is written in Romans 10:9 (WEB), "because, if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." We encourage you to pray fervently for their salvation and that God would use your testimony to draw them to Him.
In addition, we want to address the issue of depression. While it is understandable that you are experiencing pain and sadness, we want to encourage you to cast all your anxieties on Him, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). Depression can be a spiritual stronghold that keeps you from experiencing the fullness of life that God intends for you. We encourage you to seek godly counsel and support as you walk through this healing process.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is experiencing a broken heart and depression due to his divorce. Lord, we ask that You would heal his heart and draw him closer to You during this time. We pray that You would forgive him for not leading his family spiritually as he should have, and that You would give him the strength and courage to be the man of God that You have called him to be.
Lord, we also lift up his ex-wife and children to You. We pray that You would soften their hearts and draw them to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. We ask that You would use this trial to bring them to You and that You would restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25 WEB).
Finally, Lord, we pray that You would deliver our brother from the spirit of depression and that You would fill him with Your joy and peace. We ask that You would surround him with godly support and encouragement during this time, and that You would use this trial to bring him closer to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be strong and take heart, for the battle is not yours, but God's (2 Chronicles 20:15 WEB). Trust in Him, and He will see you through this storm.
