We lift up your son and this challenging transition to college before the Lord, knowing that He is faithful to guide, comfort, and provide wisdom in every circumstance. The adjustment to a new environment—especially one that feels disorderly or disrespectful—can be overwhelming, but we trust that God will use this to strengthen your son’s character, teach him reliance on the Lord, and even open doors for him to be a light in that place.
The Bible reminds us in **1 Corinthians 14:40** that *"Let all things be done decently and in order,"* and while we cannot control the actions of others, we can pray that your son would respond in a way that honors God—whether through patient endurance, gentle confrontation, or seeking solutions with wisdom. If the living situation is truly unbearable or harmful, we also pray that the Lord would provide a way for him to be placed in a more suitable environment, whether through a room change, a conversation with housing authorities, or even finding a different living arrangement if necessary.
We also encourage your son to remember **Colossians 3:23**, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* Even in difficult circumstances, his attitude and actions can reflect Christ. If his roommates are receptive, he might prayerfully consider addressing the issue with humility and clarity, speaking the truth in love (**Ephesians 4:15**). If they are not, he can still maintain his own space with diligence and trust God to work in the situation.
Most importantly, we pray that your son would draw near to the Lord during this time. College is a season where faith is often tested, and we ask that God would surround him with godly friends, mentors, and a church community that will encourage him in his walk with Christ. May he seek the Lord first in all things (**Matthew 6:33**), finding peace in His presence rather than anxiety in his circumstances.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this young man starting his college journey. Lord, You see the challenges he faces—the mess, the lack of order, and the difficulty of adjusting to this new season. We ask that You grant him patience, wisdom, and discernment in how to handle this situation. Give him the words to speak if he needs to address his roommates, and give him the grace to endure if this is a season of learning dependence on You.
Father, we pray that You would provide a solution—whether through a change in his living situation, a softening of his roommates’ hearts, or a supernatural peace that guards his mind and heart in Christ Jesus (**Philippians 4:7**). Protect him from bitterness, frustration, or distraction from his studies and his faith. Surround him with believers who will uplift him and help him stay rooted in Your Word.
Lord, we also pray for his roommates—that You would convict their hearts if they are being inconsiderate, and that they would see something different in him, something that points them to You. Use this situation for Your glory, whether in bringing order to chaos or in teaching your son to rely on You in new ways.
We declare that this year will be one of growth, not just academically, but spiritually. May he seek You first, trust in Your provision, and walk in the confidence that You are with him every step of the way. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
