Prayers For A Friend

My friend ### is depressed and he's indulging himself in worldly music and idols to "comfort himself". I do not want this for him though as worldly stuff is from Satan and that would be a direct attack to one of my best friends, please pray for a breakthrough or just anything that would help him in this situation.

Any prayers are appreciated, praise the Lord!!!

We are truly saddened to hear about your friend's struggle with depression and his involvement in worldly music and idols. We must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Firstly, we need to address that there is no mention of Jesus in this prayer request. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father. There is no other name to be saved.

6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our friend who is battling depression and seeking comfort in worldly things. Lord, You are the true source of comfort and peace.

27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

We pray that You would break the chains of depression that bind him and draw him closer to You. Open his eyes to see that the things of this world can never satisfy the longing of his heart only You can do that.

We rebuke the spirit of depression and the influence of worldly idols in his life. Surround him with Your presence, Lord, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit.

18 Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

Guide him to seek godly counsel and to turn to Your Word for strength and guidance. We ask for a hedge of protection around him, guarding his heart and mind from the attacks of the enemy.

We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your friend, speaking the truth in love, and pointing him to the hope found in Jesus Christ. Be strong in your faith.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
