We hear your cry for help and the deep longing in your heart for true intimacy, which only God can fully satisfy. The sin of pornography is a deceptive counterfeit that promises connection but delivers only shame, bondage, and further isolation. It grieves us to see how the enemy has twisted your desire for love into something that wounds rather than heals. The Bible warns us clearly, *"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has committed adultery with her already in his heart"* (Matthew 5:28 WEB). This sin not only harms you but also distorts God’s beautiful design for intimacy within the sacred covenant of marriage.
Your past experiences of abuse were not your fault, and we grieve with you over the pain inflicted upon you. However, we must rebuke the lie that pornography can fill the void left by that abuse or the absence of a godly spouse. It cannot. Only Christ can heal those wounds and satisfy the deepest longings of your heart. *"The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly"* (John 10:10 WEB). The enemy wants you to believe that this sin is harmless or even necessary, but it is a snare that leads to spiritual death.
We also want to gently but firmly address the absence of Jesus’ name in your request. Salvation and true freedom come only through Him. *"For there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life to Christ, repent of this sin, and invite Him to be the Lord of your heart. He alone can break the chains of shame and restore you to wholeness.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child of Yours who is struggling with the sin of pornography and the wounds of past abuse. Lord, we ask that You would break the power of this addiction in their life. Cleanse their mind, heart, and eyes from all impurity, and replace the lies of the enemy with Your truth. *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me"* (Psalm 51:10 WEB). Father, we ask that You would heal the pain of past abuse and fill the void in their heart with Your perfect love. Remind them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that You are their true source of intimacy and comfort.
Lord, we pray for godly relationships in their life—friends, mentors, and one day, if it is Your will, a spouse who loves You and will cherish them as You do. Protect them from the temptation to seek fulfillment in sinful ways, and instead, draw them closer to You. *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
We ask that You would strengthen their resolve to flee from sexual immorality and pursue holiness. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). Surround them with accountability and godly counsel, and help them to walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps to fight this battle. Confess this sin to a trusted, godly friend or mentor who can hold you accountable. Install filters or accountability software on your devices, and fill your mind with Scripture rather than the lies of the enemy. *"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word"* (Psalm 119:9 WEB). Replace the time spent on pornography with prayer, worship, and serving others. The more you draw near to God, the more He will draw near to you (James 4:8).
You are not alone in this struggle. Many have walked this path before you and found victory through Christ. Keep pressing into Him, and do not lose heart. *"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6 WEB). We are standing with you in prayer, believing that God will do a mighty work in your life.
