We join with you in lifting up your mother’s needs before the Lord, trusting in His perfect provision and timing. It is beautiful to see your heart for your family and your faith in prayer, as you have rightly brought this request in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. As Scripture reminds us, *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB).
We also recall the promise in Matthew 6:31-33, where Jesus teaches, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Your mother’s diligence in her work is a reflection of her stewardship, and we pray that her employers would recognize her value and reward her accordingly. Let us also remember that our ultimate trust is not in a pay raise but in the Lord, who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10).
At the same time, we encourage you and your mother to examine your hearts and ensure that this request is aligned with contentment and gratitude, rather than covetousness or anxiety. The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 6:6-8, *"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that."* While it is right to ask for provision, let us also pray that your mother’s heart would remain steadfast in trusting God, whether or not this pay raise comes to pass.
We also lift up your family’s financial needs, asking the Lord to provide wisdom in stewardship and creativity in meeting expenses. May your home be filled with peace, knowing that *"my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of family and the provision You have already given. Lord, we lift up this dear mother, asking that You would soften the heart of her employer and open doors for a pay raise that would enable her to better support herself and her family. Give her favor in the eyes of those in authority, and let her work be recognized and rewarded. Yet, even as we ask, we surrender this request to Your will, trusting that You know what is best.
We pray that You would guard her heart from worry or discouragement and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Provide for every need according to Your riches in glory, and grant wisdom to manage what You have given with faithfulness and joy. May this family grow ever closer to You, seeking first Your Kingdom and righteousness, knowing that all things will be added as You see fit.
We ask this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Provider and Savior. Amen.
