Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me as I am selfish prideful egotistical arrogant vain sinful adulterous mind lying lips, adulterous thoughts, double minded, have bitterness, have traumatic past, need prayer to pray for others and not just for myself and need to spend time with God in prayer, am struggling as I get distracted to easy, and get distracted to easily from reading scripture and trying to memorize scripture

We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, for you have laid bare the struggles of your soul with raw honesty—a sign that the Holy Spirit is already at work in you, convicting and drawing you toward repentance. There is no sin too great for the blood of Jesus to cleanse, no heart too hardened for His grace to soften, and no mind too distracted for His Word to renew. You have named the very things that grieve the Lord—pride, arrogance, vanity, adultery of the heart, deceitful lips, bitterness, and a double mind—and in doing so, you have taken the first step toward freedom. The Scriptures declare in **1 John 1:9 (WEB)**, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* This is your promise today: forgiveness and cleansing are yours if you turn to Him in true repentance.

Yet we must also address the gravity of what you’ve shared. Adultery—even in the mind—is a grievous sin against God and, if unchecked, will destroy not only your relationship with the Lord but also any future marriage He may intend for you. Jesus said in **Matthew 5:28 (WEB)**, *"But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart."* This is not a call to shame but to urgency. The enemy seeks to bind you in chains of lust and self-obsession, but Christ has broken those chains at the cross. You must flee from these sins as Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39), replacing impure thoughts with the Word of God. **Philippians 4:8 (WEB)** commands, *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things."*

Your struggle with distraction in prayer and Scripture is also a battle for your soul. The double-mindedness you describe is what **James 1:8 (WEB)** warns against: *"A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways."* But take heart—this instability can be replaced with steadfastness if you surrender your will to the Lord. **Psalm 119:36-37 (WEB)** cries out, *"Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways."* This must be your prayer. Set aside dedicated time to meet with God, even if it begins with just five minutes of focused prayer and a single verse of Scripture. Over time, the Holy Spirit will deepen your hunger for His presence.

The bitterness from your traumatic past is another stronghold the enemy uses to keep you from walking in freedom. Unforgiveness and resentment are like drinking poison and expecting someone else to suffer. **Hebrews 12:15 (WEB)** warns, *"Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."* You must release this bitterness to the Lord, forgiving those who have wronged you as Christ forgave you. This is not optional—it is the path to healing.

Now, let us pray for you with the authority and love of Christ:

*"Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved child of Yours who comes before You broken, yet boldly confessing their sins. Lord, we thank You that You do not despise a contrite heart (Psalm 51:17), and we ask that You would wash them clean by the blood of Jesus. Break the chains of pride, arrogance, and vanity that have enslaved them. Uproot the adulterous thoughts and deceitful lips, replacing them with a heart that seeks purity and speaks truth. Father, they confess their double-mindedness—unify their heart to fear Your name (Psalm 86:11). Where bitterness has taken root, Lord, dig it out and plant seeds of forgiveness and grace.

We rebuke the spirit of distraction that has hindered their time with You. Holy Spirit, give them a hunger for Your Word that surpasses any earthly desire. Help them to memorize and meditate on Scripture, that it may be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Remove every obstacle that keeps them from prayer, and teach them to intercede not only for themselves but for others, as Christ intercedes for us.

Lord, heal the wounds of their past. Where trauma has left scars, apply the balm of Your love. Where the enemy has lied to them, speak Your truth over them: they are feared, loved, and redeemed. Remind them that their identity is not in their sins but in Christ, who has made them a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We ask for a supernatural transformation—a heart that beats for You alone. Fill them with Your Spirit, that they may walk in victory over sin and live a life that glorifies You. Give them godly sorrow that leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10), and surround them with brothers and sisters in Christ who will spur them on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen."*

Finally, we urge you: **do not face this battle alone.** Find a Bible-believing church where you can be discipled and held accountable. Share your struggles with a mature Christian who can pray with you and guide you. **Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (WEB)** says, *"Two are better than one... For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow."* You need fellowship, and the body of Christ needs you.

Also, we noticed you did not invoke the name of Jesus in your request. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not already, surrender your life fully to Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation of your salvation and the power by which you will overcome.

Stand firm, brother or sister. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). The battle is His, and the victory is already won. Walk in it.

We're here for you, friend. It's encouraging to see your honesty and desire to change. Let's keep fighting together, shall we?

First, remember that God sees your heart, and He's already at work softening it. You've named your struggles, and that's the first step. Now, let's keep moving forward.

For the pride and arrogance, let's pray for humility. In Philippians 2:3-4, we're told to "do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Let's ask God to help you see others as more important than yourself.

Regarding the adulterous thoughts, let's replace them with pure thoughts. As we've mentioned before, Philippians 4:8 tells us to think about things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. Let's fill your mind with God's Word and godly thoughts.

For the bitterness, let's pray for forgiveness and healing. As we've discussed, unforgiveness is like drinking poison. Let's ask God to help you forgive as you've been forgiven.

Lastly, let's pray for consistency in your time with God. In Mark 1:35, we see Jesus getting up early to pray. Let's ask God to help you establish a consistent prayer and Bible study routine.

Let's pray all these in Jesus' name. Amen.

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus!
