We are grateful for your honest and heartfelt prayer request, and we come together to intercede for you and guide you according to biblical principles.
Firstly, we address the issue of sin and separation from God. We are encouraged by your acknowledgment of your actions as extreme mistakes. Masturbation and lustful thinking are indeed sinful and separate us from God. As it is written in Isaiah 59:2 WEB, But your iniquities have separated you from your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Additionally, we must address the issue of smoking. While the Bible does not explicitly mention smoking, it does tell us to take care of our bodies and not indulge in harmful practices. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB, it is written, Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. We pray that God will give you the strength to overcome these challenges, and we encourage you to seek support from fellow believers.
We are glad that you acknowledge that your power to obey God comes from abiding in Him. As Jesus said in John 15:4 WEB, Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
Regarding your love, we must clarify that having a love of your life is not necessarily a biblical concept. If this person is a girlfriend or someone you are in a relationship with outside of marriage, we must address this. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB, Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We encourage you to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage, as God intended. We pray that God will guide both of you closer to Him and that your interactions will be pleasing to Him.
We offer the following prayer for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up our brother in Christ. Lord, he has acknowledged his sins before You, and we ask that You would forgive him and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. Give him the strength to overcome his struggles with masturbation, lustful thinking, and smoking. Help him to flee from sexual immorality and to pursue righteousness.
Lord, we pray for the young woman in his life. If it is Your will, guide their relationship and help them to pursue a godly courtship that honors You. Help him to love her in a manner pleasing to You, and give him the wisdom to know what things will make her happy.
Father, we ask that You would guide him and make his path straight. Reveal to him Your magnificent plan for his life, and give him the power to obey You and bear much fruit.
We ask all of these things in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue praying and studying God's Word. It is only through a close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ that we can overcome the challenges of this world. As it is written in John 16:33 WEB, I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.
