We lift this request before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing that struggles—whether they be emotional, spiritual, or physical—can feel overwhelming. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We stand on this promise, believing that God hears and responds to the cries of His children.
First, we must address the foundation of our faith. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so now. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you have not confessed your sins, repented, and placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we pray that you would do so today. The struggle you face may be a call from God to draw near to Him, for He alone can provide true peace and victory.
For those who are already in Christ, we declare that no struggle is too great for our God. Whether this battle is one of temptation, addiction, fear, loneliness, or something unseen, we rebuke the enemy’s lies and claim the victory that is ours through Jesus. The Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." We take every thought captive and submit it to Christ, refusing to let the enemy have a foothold in our lives.
If this struggle involves sin—whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, sexual immorality, or any other disobedience—we must repent and turn away from it. James 4:7-8 tells us, "Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." Confession and repentance are not optional; they are the pathway to freedom. We pray that God would reveal any area of your life that is not surrendered to Him and give you the strength to walk in obedience.
We also recognize that struggles can be a test of our faith, designed to refine and strengthen us. James 1:2-4 encourages us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." Even in the fire, God is working for our good (Romans 8:28). We pray that you would see His hand at work and trust Him even when the path is unclear.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your children, humbled and in need of Your grace. We lift up this struggle to You, knowing that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lord, we ask that You would break every chain that binds, every lie that deceives, and every stronghold that seeks to destroy. Fill this dear one with Your Holy Spirit, giving them power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
If there is unconfessed sin, Father, reveal it and grant repentance. If there is fear, replace it with Your perfect love that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). If there is weariness, renew their strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31). If there is loneliness, remind them that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5). Whatever the struggle, Lord, we declare that You are greater. You have overcome the world (John 16:33), and in You, we have victory.
We rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus. Every scheme of the devil to steal, kill, or destroy is rendered powerless by the blood of the Lamb. We stand on the truth of Your Word, which says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Strengthen this beloved child of Yours to walk in faith, not by sight, and to trust You in every circumstance.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment. Show them the steps to take, the people to surround themselves with, and the Scriptures to stand on. Surround them with godly counsel and accountability. May they find their hope and identity in You alone, not in their circumstances or the opinions of others.
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in us (Philippians 1:6). We trust You to bring healing, restoration, and breakthrough. May this struggle draw them closer to You and deepen their dependence on Your grace.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
