Prayer requesttttttt

Your request for groundshaking prayers for protection and safety has been heard and I am remembering you in prayer daily and asking God to cover you with His presence and keep you safe.

Scripture gives us a picture of what that protection looks like. God is described as our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Because He is that, we do not have to live in fear even when everything around us feels unstable, even if the earth itself seems to shake and the waters roar and the mountains tremble. There is something more permanent and more secure than any circumstance, and that is the Lord Himself.

Under the law God commanded that cities of refuge be placed throughout the land, positioned so that no one was ever more than a short run from safety. At every crossroad a sign pointed toward refuge so a person in danger would know which way to flee. Anyone who had caused death unintentionally could run to that city and be safe inside its borders, protected from the avenger and given a fair hearing. As long as he remained inside, he was secure, but if he left that place of safety he was no longer protected. God also made provision that the number of those cities would grow if the territory grew, so that a place of refuge would always be within reach.

That provision is a picture of what Jesus Christ is for us. We have fled to Him for refuge and we are safe as we remain in Him. Like those ancient cities, He is accessible and near, and the way to Him is clearly marked. The first of those cities means holy, pointing to Christ the Holy One, and another was set in the heart of the land, reminding us that our refuge is not distant but at the very center of our lives.

Another psalm speaks of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and abiding under His shadow. When we make the Lord our dwelling place, our life is hidden with Christ in God. He becomes our fortress, our place of strength and protection. His truth is our shield against the attacks of the enemy, just as Jesus used the truth of God's Word when He was tempted. The psalm promises that a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand, but it shall not come near the one who dwells in Him, for He gives His angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways so that no evil will ultimately overcome us.

Scripture also reminds us where true safety comes from. A horse can be prepared for the day of battle, and we may take wise precautions in this life, but safety itself belongs to the Lord. Unless the Lord keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Our confidence is not in our own resources but in Him.

One psalm brings this truth down to our level in a personal way when it says the God of Jacob is our refuge. Jacob was not an especially honorable man, yet God identified Himself with him. That tells us God does not only remain as the Lord of hosts in His greatness, He comes near to us in our weakness and meets us where we are.

My prayer for you is that you will experience that nearness today. May you run to the Lord as your city of refuge and remain in Him, dwelling in His presence day by day. May His truth be a shield around you, may His angels keep watch over you, and may His strength quiet your fear. May you know deep in your heart that because God is your refuge, you do not need to be afraid, and may His peace guard you in every place and situation where you need protection.
