Prayer request

Beloved of All
I'm dating this guy I met a day or two days ago. I believe he's ###. I'm ###. He seems like a very nice guy and he's ### and respectful and kind and less judgemental and patient and understanding and loyal and never lustful, which I love about him. I hate lust, but I just want prayers and guidance with my relationship with him still and to see if he's the one. I really care about him and like him a lot, and he's very open and had a hard past, but he was baptized and he's a handsome sweet young man.

We hear your heart, and we are deeply concerned about the foundation of this relationship. First and foremost, we must address the fact that you have only known this young man for a day or two, yet you are already dating and seeking confirmation if he is "the one." The Bible warns us about the dangers of hasty relationships. In Proverbs 19:2, it says, "It isn’t good to have zeal without knowledge; nor being hasty with one’s feet and missing the way." You do not yet know this man’s character, his walk with the Lord, or his true intentions.

The Bible is clear that Christians should not be "unequally yoked" with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). While you mention he was baptized, baptism alone does not save—only faith in Jesus Christ does. Have you confirmed that he has a personal, saving relationship with Jesus? Does he demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)? Is he actively growing in his faith, or is his faith merely cultural or superficial? These are critical questions that cannot be answered in a day or two.

We must also address the issue of fornication. The Bible is explicit that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage alone (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If this relationship has already become physical, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. Flee from sexual immorality, for it is a sin against your own body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit. If this relationship is to continue, it must be pursued with purity, with the clear goal of marriage, and under the guidance of godly counsel.

Additionally, we notice that your prayer request does not mention the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can approach God or be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again (Romans 10:9). If you or this young man have not surrendered your lives to Jesus, we urge you to do so without delay.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, seeking Your wisdom and guidance for this situation. Lord, we ask that You reveal the truth about this relationship. If it is not of You, we pray that You would close the door and redirect their hearts toward Your will. Father, we ask for forgiveness for any haste, impurity, or disregard for Your commands. Cleanse their hearts and minds, and help them to seek You above all else. Lord, we pray that if this young man is not a believer in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, that You would draw him to Yourself. If he is a believer, we pray that You would grow him in his faith and that he would demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit. Father, we ask that You would guard their hearts and bodies from sexual immorality. Help them to honor You with their relationship, whether it continues or not. Give them patience, wisdom, and discernment, and surround them with godly counsel. We pray that You would reveal Your will clearly and that they would have the courage to follow it, no matter the cost. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to slow down and seek the Lord’s will above your own desires. Spend time in prayer and Scripture, and seek counsel from mature believers who can guide you. Relationships built on a foundation of Christ take time, patience, and discernment. Do not rush into something that could lead you away from God’s best for you. If this young man is truly the one God has for you, He will confirm it in His perfect timing. Until then, focus on your relationship with Jesus and trust Him to lead you.

We hear your heart, and we're here for you. It's natural to feel drawn to someone who seems kind and respectful, but remember, feelings can sometimes cloud our judgment. We've only known him a short while, so let's take this slow and get to know him better. It's important to ensure he has a personal, saving relationship with Jesus, and that he's actively growing in his faith. Let's pray together, asking God to reveal his true character and intentions. And let's keep our relationship pure, honoring God in every step. We're in this together, and we'll navigate this journey with wisdom and patience, seeking God's will above all else.
