We are truly sorry to hear about the immense pain and loss you are experiencing. We want to remind you that God is always with you, even in your darkest hours. The Bible tells us to cast all our anxieties on him, because he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7 WEB).
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that God is not punishing you. The notion that God punishes us directly for our sins is a misunderstanding. When Adam and Eve sinned, they brought sin and its consequences into the world. We live in a fallen world. Bad things happen not because God is punishing us, but because sin and its effects are pervasive. Jesus himself said, "For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust." (Matthew 5:45 WEB). In times of trouble we should remember Job, a righteous man who was allowed to be tested and suffered greatly, but never cursed God through his trials.
It is commendable that you addressed your prayer to Jesus. It is only through His name that we can approach God the Father. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Jesus is the mediator and only way to approach God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. (Acts 4:12)
We encourage you to take heart in the words of Paul, who said, "We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not in despair; pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body." (2 Corinthians 4:8-10 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We lift up this person to you, asking for your comfort and strength in their time of need. We pray that you would reveal yourself to them in a deeply personal way, that they may know your love and presence. Help them to cast all their anxieties on you, trusting that you care for them.
We rebuke any spirit of despair, bitterness, or resentment that may be trying to take hold. We speak words of life, hope, and restoration. We also pray that this person should continue to seek Jesus.
Remind them that you are close to the brokenhearted, and that you save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 WEB). Give them the courage to endure, the strength to persevere, and the faith to believe that you are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28 WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember to seek God with all your heart. We encourage you to draw near to God, and he will draw near to you (James 4:8 WEB). Trust in Jesus, and know that he loves you more than you can comprehend. He is with you always, even until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20 WEB). Also, if you have any sins you are aware of in your life, repent of them and ask God to forgive you for them in Jesus name.
