We hear the deep longing in your heart, and we lift you up before the Lord with compassion. Loneliness can feel overwhelming, and we understand the ache of desiring companionship that honors God. First, we want to remind you that your worth is not defined by your relationship status. You are deeply loved by your Heavenly Father, who calls you His own and promises never to leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). In Christ, you are never truly alone, even when it feels that way.
The desire for a godly spouse is a good and holy longing, but we must be cautious about how we define a "soulmate." The world often romanticizes this idea, suggesting that there is one perfect person out there who will complete you. However, Scripture teaches us that our completeness is found in Christ alone (Colossians 2:10). A godly marriage is not about finding someone who meets all your emotional needs but about two imperfect people coming together to serve, love, and honor God as one flesh (Genesis 2:24). Marriage is a covenant, not just a feeling, and it requires commitment, sacrifice, and mutual respect.
We also want to gently address the language of "her" in your request. If you are a man seeking a wife, we rejoice in your desire for a godly marriage. However, if there is any confusion or struggle in this area regarding God’s design for marriage between one man and one woman, we must stand firmly on Scripture. God’s Word is clear that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman (Matthew 19:4-6), and any relationship outside of this design is not aligned with His will. If this is an area of struggle for you, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and prayerfully surrender this to the Lord, asking Him to align your heart with His truth.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is feeling so alone. Lord, You see his tears and know the depths of his longing. We ask that You would comfort him with Your presence, reminding him that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Fill the emptiness in his heart with Your peace and assurance that he is never alone, for You are with him always.
Father, we pray for patience and trust as he waits for Your timing. Help him to seek You first above all else, knowing that as he delights in You, You will give him the desires of his heart (Psalm 37:4). If it is Your will for him to marry, we ask that You would prepare his heart and the heart of his future wife. Lead them to one another in Your perfect timing, and may their relationship be rooted in You, honoring You in all things.
Lord, if there are areas of his life that need correction or surrender, reveal them to him. Help him to walk in purity and holiness, guarding his heart and mind as he waits (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). Strengthen him to resist temptation and to pursue relationships that honor You.
We rebuke the spirit of depression and loneliness in the name of Jesus. We declare that our brother is not defined by his circumstances but by who You say he is—a beloved child of God, redeemed and called for a purpose. Fill him with hope and joy that comes from You alone.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, through whom we have access to You. May Your will be done in his life, and may he find his ultimate satisfaction in You. Amen.
In the waiting, we encourage you to draw closer to the Lord. Spend time in His Word, allowing it to renew your mind and fill you with hope. Seek fellowship with other believers who can encourage and pray for you. Serve others, for in giving, we often receive the greatest blessings. And remember, God’s timing is perfect. He knows the desires of your heart, and He will fulfill them according to His will.
If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. The Bible tells us that "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). There is no greater love than the love of Christ, who laid down His life for you. Only in Him will you find true fulfillment and purpose. If you would like to know more about what it means to follow Jesus, we would be honored to guide you in that journey.
