We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to Him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. First, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is by His grace and mercy that we can approach the throne of God with confidence. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12).
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear sister who has endured so much hardship and pain. Lord, we thank You for the strength You have given her to leave a toxic and sinful relationship. We know that Your Word commands us to flee from sexual immorality and to honor You with our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We also know that You despise divorce, but You also hate abuse and unfaithfulness (Malachi 2:16). We pray that You would heal her heart from the wounds of this past relationship and help her to see herself as You see her—precious, loved, and redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Lord, we bring before You the legal matters concerning the bond forfeiture. We ask that You would intervene in this situation and work all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). Father, we pray that this matter would be resolved in a way that brings peace and closure to her life. We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or oppression that may be trying to take hold of her, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against her in judgment, she shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
We must also address the sin that was present in this relationship. Fornication, or sex outside of marriage, is clearly forbidden in Your Word. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). We pray that You would convict this man of his sin and lead him to true repentance. We also pray that You would help this sister to walk in purity and holiness, seeking a godly spouse who will love and honor her as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25).
Father, we ask that You would restore what has been lost. We pray that You would bless her efforts in returning to college and provide for all her needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Give her wisdom and discernment as she moves forward in life, and surround her with godly friends and mentors who will encourage her in her walk with You.
Lord, we also pray for protection over her heart and mind. Guard her from bitterness, unforgiveness, and resentment. Help her to forgive this man, not because he deserves it, but because You have forgiven her (Ephesians 4:32). Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and help her to trust in You with all her heart, leaning not on her own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves her (Romans 8:37), and we stand in agreement with her, believing that You will bring justice, healing, and restoration in this situation. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
