The Shut-In
Safe Shelter
We join you in surrendering all of this anxiety and all of the what ifs into the Father's hands and we thank you for coming before Him in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We hear your heart for your husband and for this trip. You desire for him to have rest after working so hard and for this to be a time where he can see the Lord's love and favor, and we affirm your faithful marriage and your care for one another. It is good that you are seeking to honor God together in this season when your bodies have been sick and the planning has felt heavy with roadblocks and things you cannot control like the weather and securing tickets.

The Lord knows your fear and He invites you to cast it upon Him. We are reminded of 1 Peter 5:7 that we are to cast all our anxiety on him, because he cares for us and Philippians 4:6-7 tells us in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Isaiah 41:10 also comforts us, Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We pray together for you and your husband now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You on behalf of our sister and her husband. We thank You that You are merciful and gracious and that You see every detail that is causing fear, the sickness in their bodies, the fatigue, the difficulty in buying tickets, the concern over bowels and energy and weather and every step of travel. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon their bodies and for strength renewed day by day. We ask for Your favor in securing the tickets they need and for wisdom in each part of the planning. We ask that You would go before them and make the way smooth, for Proverbs 16:9 says a man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. We surrender the weather and all that we cannot control into Your sovereign hands. We pray for a safe journey there and back, for Psalm 121:8 promises Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore. Above all, let this trip be a testimony of Your love and goodness to her husband, that he would be refreshed and encouraged and would see Your hand of favor, and let any hiccups be turned for good according to Romans 8:28. Guard their hearts with Your perfect peace and let this not add to a record of disappointment but be a turning point of joy and rest in You. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to take each planning step as an act of prayer, laying each ticket, each health concern, and each travel detail before the Lord with thanksgiving and then resting in His provision for today, for Matthew 6:34 reminds us that each day has enough trouble of its own. Take time to rest together even in the planning, to drink water, to sleep, and to speak gratitude over the small mercies along the way. Trust that even if there are hiccups, the Lord is with you in the journey and He is able to redeem every moment for His glory and your good. We are praying that He will give you both renewed energy, settled health, and a safe and joyful journey that refreshes your marriage and reveals His faithful love.

We hear how heavy this planning has felt for you, and how much you want this trip to be a real rest for your husband after all his hard work. It makes sense that the roadblocks with tickets, the weather you cannot control, and not feeling well yourselves would leave you fearful instead of excited. Your desire for him to experience God's love and favor on this journey is beautiful, and we are praying with you for peace along the way.

When the what-ifs start to pile up, it can help to separate what you can do today from what only God can carry. Maybe you and your husband could set aside one short, calm time to work on the tickets together, and invite a trusted friend or family member to sit with you for that step so you are not facing the hiccups alone. Giving yourselves extra margin for rest and for the bowel and energy concerns you mentioned before you travel can also ease some pressure, and if those health concerns continue please keep your clinician in the loop as you pray for strength.

Father, we lift this couple to You. You see their weariness, their hope, and every detail of this trip. Quiet their anxious thoughts with Your steady presence, provide what they need for tickets and travel, and grant health, energy and safety each step of the way. Let them see Your mercy in small, clear ways and return refreshed. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and your burden is understood, for you have come as a child to a Father and have laid before Him the what ifs and how tos which so often press upon the heart. It is a gracious thing to surrender anxiety into His hands, for He is the God that performs all things for His people.

You speak of fear, and fear is a very natural disease of our nature. Even those who have faith in God may be weak enough to fear and be dismayed about common circumstances over which they ought by faith to exult. Desponding souls can find reason for fear where there is no fear. Yet the Lord says to you as He has said to His people in every age, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yea I will help you, yea I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

You fear hiccups in the planning, roadblocks in securing tickets, the weather which no man can control, the weakness of the body and the weariness of travel. Remember this word, what time I am afraid I will trust in Thee. Fear dishonors God, but trust honors Him. When you cannot see the way, you are to do the right thing that lies before you and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God. He who has been with you in sickness and in health, in hard days and in weary nights, will not leave you now.

Do not think that every difficulty is a sign that God is against you. The way may be weary and thorny, but how can we falter when our help is in God. He raises the fallen, He cheers the faint, the weak and oppressed He will hear when they cry. Your desire is not for mere pleasure, but that your husband who works hard and needs rest may see the love and favour of God in this journey, that it may be a turning point for his soul. That is a holy desire, and we may well ask the Lord to use even the provision of daily bread, the ordering of steps, the giving of strength, to show His kindness.

So labour to get rid of fear as much as possible, not by looking inward, but by looking to Immanuel, God with us. Till God in human flesh we see, our thoughts no comfort find, but when we see that Jesus who is God is man also, who was born and lived and died as we do, all slavish fear is forbidden and His grace removes our sins. If God be for us and with us, whom shall we fear.

We will pray with you and for you.

Our Heavenly Father, we come before Thee in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone we have access and salvation. We thank Thee that we may cast all our care upon Thee for Thou carest for us. We lift before Thee this dear sister and her husband. Thou knowest their bodies, their sickness at times, their weariness, and Thou knowest the needs of the bowels and the need for energy and health. Lord, grant them mercy and grace for this journey. We ask for Thy favour in securing what is needed, for safe passage, for seasonable weather according to Thy wisdom, for strength for each step of travel, and for protection from harm. Above all, let them see Thy hand, that this trip may not add to a record of disappointment but may be a testimony of Thy love and Thy faithfulness. Help them to fear not, to stand still and see the salvation of God, to trust Thee when they are afraid. Let perfect love cast out fear, and let them rejoice in hope of Thy glory. Keep them in fellowship with Thee each day, and let Thy peace which passes all understanding guard their hearts. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
