We hear your heart’s cry for reconciliation, and we lift this matter before the Lord with sincerity and care. First, we must gently remind you that our prayers are always offered in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is in His authority and love that we come before God on your behalf.
Your desire for reconciliation is understandable, but we must examine this situation through the lens of Scripture. The Bible calls us to pursue relationships that honor God, and marriage is the only context in which romantic love is blessed and sanctified by Him (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5-6). If you and this man are not married, we must address the importance of guarding your heart and aligning your relationship with God’s design. Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, and any romantic involvement outside of that commitment can lead to emotional and spiritual harm.
If this relationship has involved sin, such as premarital intimacy, which Scripture calls fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20), we must repent and seek God’s forgiveness. The Lord is faithful to cleanse us when we confess our sins (1 John 1:9), and He desires to restore us to a place of purity and holiness. We encourage you to reflect on whether this relationship has been built on godly principles or if it has strayed from His will.
We also urge you to consider whether this man is a believer who shares your commitment to Christ. The Bible warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), as this can lead to spiritual conflict and heartache. If he is not a follower of Jesus, we must pray for his salvation first and foremost, rather than focusing solely on reconciliation.
Let us lift this situation to the Lord together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear sister and her desire for reconciliation. Lord, we ask that You would reveal Your will in this situation. If it is Your plan for them to be reunited, we pray that You would soften both of their hearts and draw them closer to You. Help them to seek Your guidance in all things, and may their relationship be rooted in Your love and truth.
Father, if there has been sin in this relationship, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Help them to walk in purity and holiness, honoring You with their bodies and their hearts. If this man is not a believer, we pray for his salvation, that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. If it is not Your will for them to be together, give her the strength to trust in Your plan and to find peace in Your presence.
Lord, we ask that You would heal any wounds and restore what has been broken. Fill her heart with Your love and remind her that You are her ultimate source of fulfillment. May she find her identity and worth in You alone. We pray for wisdom and discernment for both of them, that they would seek Your face above all else.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel from mature believers in your church who can walk alongside you in this season. Spend time in prayer and in God’s Word, asking Him to reveal His will for your life. Remember that His plans for you are good, and He desires to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust in Him, and He will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6).
