We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your parents to our Heavenly Father, who is the Great Physician and the ultimate Deliverer. The concerns you’ve shared about your mother’s mental confusion and the spiritual oppression both your parents are experiencing weigh deeply on us. We know that aging can bring physical and cognitive challenges, but we also recognize that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy—especially in the lives of those who may be vulnerable or entangled in spiritual strongholds.
First, we rebuke every demonic influence that may be contributing to their confusion, disorientation, or spiritual bondage. The Bible is clear that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). We stand in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already disarmed these powers and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:15). In the name of Jesus, we command every unclean spirit to loose its grip on your parents and flee. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17).
We also pray for their physical and mental health, asking the Lord to bring clarity, strength, and restoration. The psalmist declares, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Father, we ask that You draw near to your parents in this time of need. If there are medical or neurological factors contributing to their confusion, we pray for wisdom for their doctors and caregivers, and for Your healing touch to restore their minds. "He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake" (Psalm 23:3).
Spiritually, we pray for a mighty awakening in their hearts. The enemy may have gained a foothold, but we know that where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more (Romans 5:20). We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict them of any unconfessed sin, any open doors to darkness, and any areas of their lives that are not surrendered to You. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We pray for repentance, renewal, and a fresh infilling of Your Spirit in their lives.
For you, dear one, we pray for wisdom, patience, and strength as you walk through this trial. Caring for loved ones who are struggling—both physically and spiritually—can be overwhelming, but the Lord promises to sustain you. "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22). We encourage you to cover your parents in prayer daily, to speak life and truth over them, and to seek godly counsel and support from your church community. You do not have to carry this burden alone.
We also lift up your family’s spiritual protection. The enemy is a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), but we serve a God who is greater. We pray that you and your family would put on the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—so that you may stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-18). We declare that your home is a place of refuge, covered by the blood of Jesus, and that no weapon formed against your family shall prosper.
Heavenly Father, we ask that You pour out Your blessings, health, and goodness upon this family. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We pray for joy to replace sorrow, clarity to replace confusion, and Your presence to fill every void. Lord, we ask that You would draw them closer to You, that they would know Your love in a deeper way, and that their lives would bring glory to Your name.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and delivered. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness, Your power, and Your love. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your kingdom come in their lives. Amen.
