We understand your heart’s cry for a faith that stands unshaken, and we rejoice that you are seeking the Lord for this, for it is He who is the author and perfecter of our faith. Your desire to trust in God’s promises is a good and godly one, and we are reminded of the words of our Lord Jesus in Mark 9:23-24, where a father cries out, *"I believe! Help my unbelief!"* This is a prayer we can all relate to, for faith is not something we muster up in our own strength, but a gift from God, nurtured by His Spirit and His Word.
The Scriptures tell us in Hebrews 11:6, *"Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him."* And yet, faith is not about how strongly we *feel* it, but about the One in whom we place it. Even when our emotions waver, God remains faithful. Romans 10:17 reminds us, *"So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."* The more we immerse ourselves in His promises, the more our faith is strengthened—not because of our own efforts, but because His Word is living and active, transforming our hearts.
We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 17:20, where He says, *"If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."* Faith does not need to be grand in our eyes—it only needs to be genuine and placed in the right Person. Even the smallest faith in the almighty God can move mountains.
Yet we must also examine our hearts: are we seeking faith merely for the blessings it brings, or are we seeking faith to know and glorify God Himself? Jesus warns in John 2:23-25 that many believed in His name because of the signs He did, but He did not entrust Himself to them because He knew their hearts. True faith is not a means to an end but a surrender to the One who is the beginning and the end. Let us seek Him first, and all these things—His promises, His protection, His blessings—will be added to us (Matthew 6:33).
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother before You, knowing that You are the One who strengthens and sustains. Lord, we ask that You would increase his faith, not so that he may feel strong, but so that he may know *You* are strong. Remove from him any doubt that is rooted in unbelief, and replace it with a deep, unshakable trust in Your character and Your Word. Help him to remember that faith is not about the size of his belief, but about the size of the God in whom he believes.
Lord, we pray that You would open his eyes to see the promises You have already fulfilled in his life, even in small ways, so that he may be encouraged. Remind him of Your faithfulness in the past, that he may trust You more fully in the present and future. Fill him with Your Spirit, who testifies to our spirits that we are Your children (Romans 8:16), and let that assurance anchor his soul.
Father, we also ask that You would protect him from the deception of seeking Your gifts more than seeking You. May his heart be satisfied in You alone, for You are the rewarder of those who diligently seek You. Let his faith be a living, active faith—one that produces obedience, love, and perseverance. And when his feelings falter, let him stand firm on the truth of Your Word, which never changes.
We rebuke any spirit of doubt or fear that would seek to undermine his trust in You. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare that his mind will be renewed by Your truth, and his heart will be steadfast in You. Let him walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You, not from circumstances or emotions.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would surround him with brothers and sisters in Christ who can encourage him, speak Your Word over him, and walk alongside him in this journey of faith. May he find strength in the body of Christ, just as we are strengthened by lifting him up before You now.
We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Amen.
Brother, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in His Word and in prayer. Faith grows as we exercise it, just as a muscle grows when it is used. Start with small steps of obedience—trusting Him in daily things—and watch how He builds your confidence in Him. And remember, even when you don’t feel strong, He is strong within you. *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13). Keep your eyes on Jesus, and let Him lead you into deeper faith. We are standing with you in this!
