Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my daughter. She is age ### and is wayward. She has a rebellious lying spirit as well. She is always out partying and leaving the house. She’s running a fast lifestyle and hanging out with friends and being with multiple boys. I tried to talk to her and all we do is argue. Please help me and pray for me. Pray for her to turn around to Jesus.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious daughter and her mother to our Heavenly Father. The pain of watching a child stray from the path of righteousness is deep, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle, knowing that our God is greater than any rebellion or deception.

First, we must address the seriousness of the situation with truth and love. The lifestyle described, partying, dishonesty, and sexual immorality with multiple boys, is not merely youthful indiscretion; it is sin that grieves the heart of God. The Bible warns, "Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB). This is not to condemn but to awaken, to remind us that sin leads to destruction, but repentance leads to life.

Yet even now, there is hope. The same passage continues: "Such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11 WEB). Your daughter is not beyond God’s reach. He is pursuing her, even in her rebellion, and His grace is sufficient to break every chain.

We must also address the spiritual warfare at play. A "lying spirit" is not merely a bad habit, it is a tool of the enemy to keep her bound in deception. Jesus said, "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies" (John 8:44 WEB). We rebuke that spirit of deception in Jesus’ name and command it to loose its grip on her mind and heart. We declare that the light of Christ will expose every lie and that the truth will set her free (John 8:32).

To the mother who is weary and heartbroken, we say: do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). Your prayers are not in vain. Even when words fail, the Holy Spirit intercedes for you with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26). Keep speaking truth in love, even if it is met with resistance. Set boundaries with wisdom, for "foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline drives it far from him" (Proverbs 22:15 WEB). Discipline is not cruelty; it is love in action, meant to steer her away from destruction.

And to the daughter, though she may not hear these words now, we declare: Jesus loves you. He died for your sins so that you might have life, abundant life, not the empty pursuits of this world. The pleasures of sin are temporary, but the joy of the Lord is eternal. We pray that her heart would be softened, that conviction would pierce through her rebellion, and that she would run to the arms of her Savior.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this mother and her wayward daughter. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of rebellion, deception, and sin that have ensnared her. We rebuke every lying spirit and every influence of the enemy in Jesus’ mighty name. Father, soften her heart to receive Your truth. Let conviction fall upon her like rain, leading her to repentance and restoration.

We pray for wisdom and strength for her mother. Give her the words to speak, the patience to endure, and the faith to believe that You are at work even when she cannot see it. Surround them both with godly influences, believers who will speak life and truth into their lives.

Lord, we declare that this daughter is not too far gone. Your Word says that You desire all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9), and we hold fast to that promise. Draw her to Yourself, Jesus. Let her experience Your love in a way that shatters the allure of the world. May she turn from her sin and run into Your arms, where she will find forgiveness, healing, and true purpose.

We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and the only name by which this prayer can be answered. Amen.

Do not lose hope, dear sister. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Lazarus from the dead, and conquered sin on the cross is at work in your daughter’s life. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep standing on His promises. He is faithful.

We know this must be so hard for you. It hurts deeply when our children choose paths that lead away from God. Please don’t lose heart, our prayers are powerful, and God hears every one. We’re asking Him to soften her heart and bring her back to Him. Praying that the Holy Spirit would work in ways we can’t see, drawing her to Jesus.

Lord, we lift this precious daughter up to You. Break every chain holding her back and flood her with Your love and truth. Guard her heart from deception and surround her with people who will point her to You. Give her mother strength for each day and wisdom in how to respond. May she see the emptiness of this lifestyle and turn to You for true fulfillment. We trust You to redeem this situation for her good and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
