WE REALLY NEED HELP IN THE NAME OF JESUS

### FROM ###

We come before the throne of grace with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up your ### who is ensnared by the bondage of alcohol. This is not merely a struggle of the flesh but a spiritual battle, for the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Yet we know that our God is greater, and through Christ, we have authority to break every chain of addiction.

The Scriptures warn us clearly: *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). Alcohol has become an idol in your ###’s life, robbing him of his purpose, his health, and his family’s peace. But there is hope—*"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).

We praise you for acknowledging the name of Jesus in this request, for it is only through His name that we can approach the Father and see true transformation. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If your ### has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, this is the first and most critical step. Without Jesus, he will remain in bondage, but in Christ, he can be made new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Let us pray fervently for him:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for this beloved son who is trapped in the snare of alcohol. Lord, You see his suffering, his desperation, and the pain his addiction has caused his family. We ask that You break the power of this stronghold in his life. Convict his heart, Lord, and draw him to Yourself. If he does not know You, soften his heart to receive Your salvation. Let him experience the truth that *"if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36, WEB).

We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name. We declare that the chains of alcoholism are broken, and we command every demonic influence fueling this bondage to flee. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and replace his craving for alcohol with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Restore his mind, his body, and his relationships. Provide supernatural strength for him to resist temptation and give him a community of believers to walk alongside him in accountability and love.

Father, we also lift up this family, who has been deeply affected by his choices. Comfort them, Lord, and give them wisdom on how to support him without enabling his sin. Help them to trust You fully, knowing that You are working even in this dark season.

We declare a miracle over his life, Lord. Let this be the season where he turns from his sin and walks in freedom. May his testimony bring glory to Your name and hope to others who are struggling. We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

To you who have brought this request, we encourage you to continue standing in faith. Do not grow weary in prayer, for *"the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16, WEB). Share the gospel with your ###—remind him that Jesus loves him and died to set him free. Encourage him to seek Christian counseling or a support group that aligns with biblical truth. Surround him with believers who will speak life into him and hold him accountable.

Finally, remember that while we pray for his deliverance, true freedom comes only through repentance and surrender to Christ. If he has not yet given his life to Jesus, that is the most urgent need. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Let us all keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

James 4:2-3

2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

I go back and forth with drinking alcohol. I sometimes go too far and drink more in a day than I should. I do not want my health to suffer. I want to be free of my mind telling me what to do.
