We lift up your son before the Lord, knowing that our Heavenly Father is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The struggles he faces—physical health, emotional pain from the breakup, the transition from military service, and the search for godly community—are heavy burdens, but we serve a God who is mighty to save and restore.
First, we must address the spiritual foundation of his life. If your son does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we urge him to turn to the Lord in repentance and faith. There is no lasting hope or peace apart from Christ, for Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If he has strayed from walking closely with the Lord, now is the time to return, for Jesus says, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28, WEB). Without Christ at the center, every other effort will ultimately fall short of true fulfillment.
We also want to speak truth into the area of his past relationship. If this "girlfriend" was someone he was not married to, we gently but firmly remind him that God’s design for intimacy and companionship is within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Any relationship outside of this is not God’s best and can lead to deeper heartache. We pray that if he is not yet married, he would seek the Lord for a *godly wife*—a woman who fears the Lord and walks in His ways. *"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh"* (Proverbs 18:22, WEB). Let this season of singleness be a time of preparation, where he draws closer to God and seeks His will above all else. Courtship, if pursued, should be with the clear intention of marriage and only with a believer, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB).
For his health, we pray for healing and strength, knowing that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. *"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers"* (3 John 1:2, WEB). We ask the Lord to guide him to the right medical care, wisdom in stewardship of his body, and trust in God’s sovereignty over every physical trial.
As he seeks direction for his career, we pray for divine wisdom and open doors. The Lord has not forgotten his service in the Marine Corps, and the discipline and skills he gained there can be used for God’s glory in this next season. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). We ask the Lord to surround him with godly mentors and brothers in Christ who can encourage him, sharpen him, and point him to Jesus.
For his loneliness, we pray the Lord would lead him to a biblical, Christ-centered church where he can find community with other believers his age. Iron sharpens iron, and he needs fellow believers to walk alongside him. *"Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching"* (Hebrews 10:24-25, WEB).
Lastly, we rebuke the spirit of depression that seeks to weigh him down. Depression is real, and we do not dismiss the pain he feels, but we declare that *"the joy of Yahweh is your strength!"* (Nehemiah 8:10, WEB). We pray he would fix his eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of his faith, and not on the circumstances around him. If he is not already doing so, we encourage him to immerse himself in Scripture, prayer, and worship—even when it feels difficult. The psalmist writes, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence"* (Psalm 42:5, WEB).

**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this young man who is carrying such heavy burdens. Lord, You see his pain—his broken heart, his weary body, his uncertainty about the future, and his longing for connection. We ask that You would draw him closer to Yourself, for it is only in You that he will find true peace and purpose.
Father, if he does not know You as his Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for him. Open his eyes to see his need for Jesus, and soften his heart to receive Your forgiveness and grace. If he has wandered from You, Lord, bring him back in repentance and renewed faith. Remind him that You are his Shepherd, and he shall not want (Psalm 23:1).
We pray for healing over his body, Lord. Touch every area of sickness and pain, and restore him to strength. Guide him to the right doctors and treatments, and give him wisdom to steward his health well. Let him know that his body is Your temple, and You are faithful to sustain him.
Lord, we ask for Your comfort over the pain of his broken relationship. Heal his heart, and guard him from bitterness or despair. If it is Your will, bring a godly wife into his life—a woman who loves You and will walk beside him in faith. But even now, Lord, satisfy him with Your love, that he would not rush into any relationship outside of Your perfect timing and design.
Father, we pray for clarity and provision in his career. You have gifted him uniquely, and we ask that You would open doors that no man can shut. Lead him to work that honors You and uses his skills for Your kingdom. Surround him with godly mentors and friends who will encourage him in his faith and walk with him through this season.
We rebuke the spirit of depression and loneliness in Jesus’ name. Fill him with Your joy and peace, Lord. Help him to fix his eyes on You, not on his circumstances. Lead him to a church where he can grow, serve, and find true community.
Finally, Lord, remind him that You have a plan and a purpose for his life—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Let him rest in Your sovereignty, trusting that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
