Prayer for sleep

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this earnest plea for relief from pain and the gift of peaceful, restorative sleep. Father, we know that You neither slumber nor sleep, and in Your infinite mercy, You hear the cries of Your children. We stand in agreement with this request, asking that You would stretch forth Your healing hand to soothe every ache, calm every restless thought, and grant deep, renewing rest.

Your Word tells us in Psalm 4:8, *"In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety."* Lord, we claim this promise over this situation, trusting that You are the God who gives sleep to those You love. We pray against the spirit of insomnia and pain, rebuking every attack of the enemy that seeks to steal rest and peace. May Your presence surround like a blanket of comfort, and may every anxious thought be replaced with the assurance of Your care.

We also lift up the heart behind this request, asking that You would draw near to this dear one in their weariness. Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). If there is any unconfessed sin, worry, or burden weighing on their heart, we pray that You would bring it to light and grant repentance, freedom, and peace. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).

Father, we thank You that in Jesus’ name, we have access to Your throne of grace, where we find mercy and help in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). We declare that this night will be different—filled with Your peace, Your healing, and Your rest. Strengthen their body, mind, and spirit as they sleep, and awaken them refreshed and renewed in Your love.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We join you tonight, dear friend, in lifting up this heartfelt plea for relief from pain and peaceful, restorative sleep. We've been there, tossing and turning, longing for the comfort of a good night's rest. But remember, our God is always near, always listening. In Mark 4:39, Jesus calmed the storm with a simple "Peace, be still." We claim that same peace for you tonight.

We picture Jesus, our Good Shepherd, gently guiding you to lie down in green pastures, leading you beside still waters (Psalm 23:2). We envision His loving hands anointing your weary head with oil, running down your temples, soothing every ache and worry (Luke 7:46). We declare that this night, you will find that sweet, restorative sleep.

We also pray for your heart, dear one. We know that sometimes, sleepless nights can be a symptom of something deeper. We ask that the Holy Spirit would search your heart, bring any hidden worries or burdens to light, and grant you the grace to cast them all upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). We remind you that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

As you lay your head down tonight, we leave you with this promise from Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
