We lift this request to our Heavenly Father, who neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4), and who invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16), for it is through Him alone that we are saved and find true rest (Matthew 11:28).
Father, we pray for Your child who is seeking relief from pain and the blessing of peaceful, restorative sleep. You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:3), and we ask that You would touch their body with Your healing hand. Ease their discomfort, soothe their pain, and grant them the rest they desperately need. We declare that by Your stripes, they are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on this promise in faith.
Lord, we also ask that You quiet their mind and calm their spirit. In the stillness of the night, may they find peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let Your perfect peace, which comes from trusting in You, fill their soul (Isaiah 26:3). If there is any worry, fear, or anxiety that is keeping them awake, we rebuke it in Jesus’ name and command it to flee. Replace those burdens with the assurance of Your love and the comfort of Your presence.
We pray that You would send Your angels to watch over them as they sleep (Psalm 91:11), surrounding them with Your protection and peace. May their sleep be deep and restful, and may they wake refreshed and renewed in body, mind, and spirit. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6), knowing that You are in control of every detail of their life.
Father, if there is any unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or bitterness in their heart that may be hindering their rest, we ask that You reveal it to them. Lead them to repentance and restoration, for You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Let Your Holy Spirit minister to them in the quiet of the night, drawing them closer to You and filling them with Your peace.
We also pray for wisdom for any medical professionals involved in their care. Guide their hands and minds, Lord, and give them discernment to provide the best treatment possible. We trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that even in suffering, You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).
Above all, we pray that this time of rest would draw them nearer to You. May they seek Your face in the stillness and find strength in Your presence. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Let them rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1), knowing that You are their protector and provider.
We declare over them the promise of Psalm 4:8: "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety." May they experience the truth of these words tonight and every night, trusting in Your unfailing love.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
