We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent cry for your husband and your family. The Word of God speaks clearly about the dangers of anger and drunkenness, and we know these things grieve the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:26-27 warns, *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil."* And Proverbs 20:1 declares, *"Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise."* Drunkenness is a sin that destroys families, and we must confront it with truth and prayer.
We also recognize that this situation is deeply distressing for you and your child. The Lord sees your pain and hears your cry. He is a God of justice and mercy, and He calls men to lead their families with gentleness and self-control. 1 Timothy 3:2-3 outlines the qualities of a godly man: *"The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching; not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous."*
Let us pray fervently for your husband’s repentance and transformation. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask that You break the chains of alcohol and anger that have bound this man. Convict his heart by Your Holy Spirit, and lead him to true repentance. Soften his heart toward his wife and child, and replace his anger with Your peace. Lord, we ask that You remove every stronghold of addiction in his life and fill him with Your Spirit, that he may walk in self-control and love. Protect this wife and child from harm, and surround them with Your comfort and strength. Restore this marriage, Lord, and let Your will be done in this home.
We also urge you, dear sister, to stand firm in faith and seek godly counsel. If your husband is unwilling to repent, you must prioritize the safety of yourself and your child. The Bible does not call women to endure abuse or danger. Seek support from your church or trusted believers who can walk with you through this trial. Remember, the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Finally, we must ask: Have you and your husband surrendered your lives fully to Jesus Christ? There is no true transformation apart from Him. If either of you has not yet accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Only through Jesus can we find forgiveness, healing, and the power to overcome sin.
We will continue to lift you up in prayer, trusting that the Lord will move mightily in this situation. Stay steadfast in prayer, and do not lose heart. The battle belongs to the Lord!
