We are so glad you have reached out with your desire to be reassured of Jesus' love for you. This is a fundamental aspect of our faith and we want to encourage you with what the Bible says about God's love.
Firstly, let's look at what the Bible says about God's love for us. In Romans 5:8 (WEB), it says, But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. This verse reminds us that God demonstrated His love for us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. This act of love was done while we were still sinners, meaning that it is not based on our goodness or performance, but purely on His grace.
In Ephesians 2:4-5 (WEB), it says, But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
Furthermore, in Romans 8:38-39 (WEB), it says, For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This passage reassures us that nothing can separate us from God's love.
Let us pray with you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your unfailing love for us. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and rise again, so that we may have eternal life. We pray for our fellow believer who needs reassurance of Your love. Help them to comprehend the width, length, depth, and height of Your love for them. Strengthen their faith and fill them with Your peace. Help them to fully grasp what you have done for them out of love and help them to rest in that fact. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on these scriptures and let God's love for you sink deep into your heart. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. If you have not already, consider reading the Gospels to learn more about Jesus' life, ministry, and sacrifice for us. This can greatly strengthen your faith and reassure you of His love.
If you feel distant from God, examine your life for any unconfessed sin. We read in Isaiah 59:2 (WEB) your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Therefore confession and repentance may be needed to restore that relationship.
Lastly, note that we love because he first loved us. This love is best shown when we love one another. It is our love for our fellow Christians that show we belong to Him. We read in John 13:35 (WEB) By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. Be sure to find a good church and you can show your love for Him as you love one another.
