Prayer for provision

Anonymous

Beloved of All
It seems like all of my resources have dried up. I’m starving and can’t find food. Everyday my faith grows weaker. I’ve asked the Lord time and again to provide but it’s never answered. I have to take matters into my own hands just to get food. Going to bed hungry? I’m going to just stop asking and accept my circumstances. I guess I was meant to starve. I no longer believe that God cares and I’m being punished. I used to think that He wants the best for me but I doubt since abusive users wound me. I’m tired. Can’t help but doubt at this point. A couple of weeks ago I sought out food and there was none. I really can’t hold on any longer. Always getting kicked down. Don’t worry? But there’s no food! No jobs. It’s very tempting at this point to find other means to keep a roof over my head because God doesn’t care about me. Why doesn’t God answer?

Oh, beloved, our hearts break for the deep suffering and despair you are walking through right now. We hear the agony in your words—the hunger, the exhaustion, the crushing weight of feeling abandoned by God. But we must speak truth into this darkness with love and urgency, for the enemy is whispering lies to you in this hour of desperation, and we will not let him have the final word over your life.

First, we must address something critical: you say you no longer believe God cares and that you are being punished. But listen closely—this is not the voice of truth. Jesus Himself said, *"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!"* (Matthew 7:9-11, WEB). Your pain is real, but God’s character has not changed. He is not withholding from you out of cruelty or indifference. The delay is not denial, and the silence is not abandonment. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). Even in this, He is working—perhaps refining your faith, drawing you closer, or preparing a breakthrough you cannot yet see.

Yet we also hear the dangerous edge in your words—the temptation to take matters into your own hands in ways that may dishonor God. We understand the desperation, but we must warn you with love: *"Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap"* (Galatians 6:7, WEB). Turning to ungodly means for provision will only deepen your bondage and pain. Instead, we plead with you: *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). This is not a call to passivity—it is a call to *radical dependence* on the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). He sees your hunger. He counts your tears. And He is able to provide in ways you cannot imagine.

You also mentioned the wounds from abusive users, and we grieve with you over this pain. But hear this: *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds"* (Psalm 147:3, WEB). Your worth is not defined by how others have treated you. You are *beloved* by the King of kings, and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). The abuse you’ve suffered does not mean God has abandoned you—it means the enemy has sought to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to give you *life abundantly*. Will you let Him?

Now, let us address the most urgent matter: your faith is wavering, and you speak as though you are ready to stop asking God for help. Beloved, this is the *exact moment* you must *claw your way back to Him*, even if it feels like grasping at air. *"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful"* (Hebrews 10:23, WEB). The fact that you are still here, still breathing, still able to cry out—this is *evidence* that God has not given up on you. *"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved"* (Psalm 55:22, WEB). Do not let go of Him now. Do not surrender to the lie that you are meant to starve. That is the voice of the accuser, not the Father.

As for provision, we do not know why the answer has tarried, but we *do* know this: *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19, WEB). Sometimes the provision comes through miraculous means—a sudden job, an unexpected gift, a stranger’s kindness. Sometimes it comes through the body of Christ, which is why we are urging you now: *Reach out to a local church or ministry*. Pride may tell you to suffer in silence, but humility says, *"I need help."* The early church shared everything so that *"none among them lacked"* (Acts 4:34). Let the people of God be God’s hands to you. If you are unable to find a church, we implore you to contact Christian food banks or shelters in your area. You are not meant to walk this alone.

Finally, we must address the absence of Jesus’ name in your cry for help. There is *no other name* under heaven by which we are saved, by which we approach the throne of grace (Acts 4:12). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, then this is the moment. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). Without Him, we are all starving—spiritually, emotionally, physically. But in Him, *"all the promises of God are ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’"* (2 Corinthians 1:20). If you *have* trusted in Christ, then you *must* keep calling on His name, for *"the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective"* (James 5:16).

Now, let us pray over you with the authority and love of Christ:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious soul who is crying out in the wilderness of despair. Lord, You see their hunger—not just for food, but for hope, for dignity, for the assurance that You have not forgotten them. We declare over them that *"the Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair, of hopelessness, of abandonment that is whispering lies to them. We bind the enemy’s voice and command it to be silent in Jesus’ name.

Lord, we ask You to *open the windows of heaven* and pour out provision for this beloved one. You multiplied loaves and fishes; You rained manna from heaven; You provided for Elijah through ravens and widows. You are the same God today! Father, reveal to them the path they must take—whether it is a job, a connection, a ministry, or a miracle. Give them wisdom to seek help from Your people, and soften their heart to receive it. Let them *not* turn to ungodly means, but let them see Your hand move in ways that leave no doubt it was You.

We speak life over their weary soul. *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence"* (Psalm 42:5). Father, restore their faith. Let them recall every time You have been faithful before, and let those memories be anchors now. Remind them that *"we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal"* (2 Corinthians 4:18). This hunger is temporary, but Your love is eternal.

We also pray for healing from the wounds of abuse. Father, bind up their broken heart. Let them know they are *not* defined by what has been done to them, but by who You say they are—a child of the King, redeemed, beloved, and chosen. *"The Spirit of the Lord God is on me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound"* (Isaiah 61:1). Let this be their portion, Lord.

And now, we speak directly to this beloved one: *Do not give up*. The fact that you are still here means God is not done with you. The fact that you reached out means He is drawing you closer. *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). Jesus is calling you to Himself—not to a life of starvation, but to a table prepared in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23:5). Will you trust Him one more day? Will you let us stand with you in faith?

We decree that *this* is the day their breakthrough comes. *"The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly"* (John 10:10). Father, let them see Your abundance. Let them taste Your goodness. Let them *know* that You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Provider, we pray. Amen.

Dear friend, we hear your cry and we're here with you. We know the hunger you feel isn't just physical, but also emotional and spiritual. It's okay to feel desperate, to question why God seems silent. We've been there too.

First, we want to remind you that God hasn't abandoned you. He sees you, He knows your pain, and He cares deeply. In fact, He's so close to the brokenhearted that He promises to heal them (Psalm 147:3). He's not punishing you; He's refining you, drawing you closer, and preparing a breakthrough you can't yet see (Romans 5:3-4).

We understand the temptation to take matters into your own hands, but we urge you to trust God completely. He promises to provide for every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Sometimes, provision comes through unexpected means or people. Have you reached out to local churches or ministries for help? They are God's hands extended to you.

We also want to encourage you to keep praying, keep trusting, and keep hoping. Your faith is wavering, but it's not too late to claw your way back to Him. He is faithful, and He will not let you be moved (Psalm 55:22).

Remember, Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). He didn't come for you to starve or suffer needlessly. Trust Him with your life, and watch Him move on your behalf.

We're praying for you, dear friend. We believe this is the day your breakthrough comes. Keep holding on, keep trusting, and keep hoping. You are not alone.
