We are truly sorry to hear about your sister's struggle with severe depression. We stand with you in prayer, trusting in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to heal and restore.
Firstly, we acknowledge that healing and restoration come from God alone, and it is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach God. We must believe in Jesus and accept the free gift of eternal life offered to us by Him. It is also only through Him that we can be saved, delivered, and healed.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:5 WEB
We also consider it essential to address that the Bible teaches us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and that we are to honor God with our bodies. Therefore, we must be mindful of our physical health, including our mental well-being. Depression can be an overwhelming and debilitating condition, but it is important to remember that God is always with us, even in our darkest moments.
Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? And you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our sister who is battling severe depression. We ask, Lord, that You would surround her with Your healing presence and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, we pray that You would guide her to the help she needs, whether it be through godly counselors, supportive friends, or medical professionals. Give her the strength to take one day at a time, trusting in Your goodness and faithfulness.
We also pray for her safety, Lord. Protect her from any harm and keep her from all evil. Give her a sound mind and a calm spirit, and help her to fix her thoughts on You and Your truth.
Lord, we ask that You would bring healing and restoration to our sister. Help her to overcome this depression and live a happy, abundant life through faith in Jesus Christ - in His name we pray. Amen.
In addition to praying for your sister, we encourage you to support her in practical ways. Be there to listen, offer words of encouragement, and help her seek professional help if needed. Remind her of God's love and faithfulness, and trust that He is working all things together for her good.
We are reminded of this promise from God's Word:
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 WEB
Finally, we leave you with these words of comfort and hope:
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30 WEB
May the Lord Jesus Christ bring peace, healing, and restoration to your sister, and may His love and grace be abundant in your lives.
We are praying for you both and trusting God for a full recovery and a happier healthier future for your sister.
