We lift this request before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing that struggles—whether they be emotional, spiritual, or physical—can weigh heavily on the soul. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Even when the details of the struggle are not shared, we trust that the Lord sees and knows the depths of this burden.
First, we must address the foundation of our faith. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the words of Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Jesus is the only way to the Father, and it is through His name alone that we find true deliverance, peace, and strength. If you have not confessed Him as Lord and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9), we pray that you would do so today. Without Christ, our struggles are faced in our own strength, but with Him, we have access to the power of the Holy Spirit, who sustains us.
For those who are in Christ, we rebuke the spirit of despair and heaviness in the name of Jesus. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on the promise that God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Whatever this struggle may be—whether it is sin, addiction, fear, loneliness, or physical ailment—we command it to loose its grip in Jesus’ name.
We also encourage you to examine your heart and life for any areas that may be giving the enemy a foothold. Ephesians 4:27 warns, "Don’t give place to the devil." Have you allowed bitterness, unforgiveness, or unconfessed sin to take root? James 5:16 instructs us, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." Do not carry this burden alone. Seek out a trusted brother or sister in Christ to walk alongside you, to pray with you, and to hold you accountable.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that are heavy but hopeful, knowing that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lord, we lift up this dear one who is facing struggles that feel overwhelming. You see their pain, their tears, and their silent cries. We ask that You would draw near to them, Lord, and remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
Father, if there is any area of their life that is not surrendered to You, we pray that You would reveal it. Break any chains of sin, addiction, or bondage that may be contributing to this struggle. We declare that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36), and we rebuke every spirit of oppression, fear, and despair in the mighty name of Jesus.
Lord, we ask that You would fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen them with Your power in their inner being (Ephesians 3:16), and remind them that Your grace is sufficient, for Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
We pray for wisdom and discernment, Lord, that they would know how to walk in victory. Surround them with godly counsel and fellowship, so they are not isolated in this battle. Teach them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to stand firm in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Father, we thank You that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28), even when they cannot see it. We trust that You will complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). May they find their strength in You, Lord, and may their testimony of Your faithfulness bring glory to Your name.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Remember, beloved, that your struggle is not in vain. The Lord is using this season to refine you, to draw you closer to Him, and to prepare you for the purposes He has for you. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Keep pressing into God’s Word, keep praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). You are not alone, and you are deeply loved.
