Our church is a White church and the only blacks in our church right now are our Pastor and his wife. They have not been treated so well by a lot of people in our church. There are about a dozen or so of us that know that he has been sent to us by God. However, there is a couple who are determined to get rid of this Pastor because he is black. They have convinced a lot of people to follow them by not attending church or supporting the church in finances or any programs.
They have gone so far as to lie on the Pastor and his wife. These members only want the members that left the church some years ago before this Pastor came here, to come back, they do not want the community (mainly black and poor) to come into the church to make this a community church. Please Pray for God's will to be done and ask that the community will begin to come in and become disciplines of Christ. This particular Pastor is a man of God and preaches and teaches God's Word. Most of the members only come for Sunday School becuase they will not let the Pastor teach or join any of the Sunday School classes. I believe that this Pastor was sent to us by God to make our church not our church but God's Church for the whole community. Also, I ask for prayer for our Pastor and his family, I've noticed lately that the stress of people lying on him and his wife and the continual unminding of what God has called him to do, is showing. Please ask God to keep this Pastor strong in his love for God and His Word, to keep him built up spritiually, emotionally and so that he can take a respite, financially, as they do nothing to show any kind of appreciation. Thank You.
