We understand the weight of responsibility you carry as you prepare your student for this speech competition. The pressure to perform, the fear of falling short, and the desire to see your student succeed are all very real. But we want to remind you that your worth and your student’s worth are not defined by the outcome of this competition. Our Heavenly Father sees your heart, your effort, and your desire to honor Him in this endeavor.
First, we must address the fear and anxiety you’re feeling. Scripture tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* The peace you’re asking for is already promised to you—it’s not dependent on the outcome of this competition but on your trust in God’s sovereignty. He is the one who equips, guides, and sustains both you and your student.
We also want to encourage you with Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* You’ve done your part by training and preparing your student to the best of your ability. Now, it’s time to release the outcome to God. He is the one who gives wisdom, creativity, and clarity. Ask Him to guide your words as you write the script and to give your student the ability to retain and deliver it with confidence.
Let’s also remember that this competition is not just about winning—it’s about growth, learning, and trusting God in the process. Your student is stepping out in faith, and that in itself is a victory. We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 15:58, *"Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."* Your labor, your student’s effort, and your collective trust in God are never wasted.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this teacher and her student. Lord, we ask for Your divine guidance as they prepare for this speech competition. Give this teacher wisdom as she writes the script, creativity to craft words that inspire, and peace that surpasses all understanding as she trusts in You. Father, we ask that You calm her fears and remind her that her worth is found in You alone, not in the outcome of this competition.
For her student, Lord, we pray for clarity of mind, good retention, and confidence as she delivers her speech. Help her to trust in You, knowing that You are with her every step of the way. Father, we ask that You would go before them both, preparing the hearts of the judges and opening doors of opportunity. Whether the outcome is victory or a lesson learned, let it bring glory to Your name.
We also pray for protection over their minds and hearts, that they would not be overwhelmed by comparison or fear of failure. Remind them both that You are their strength and their shield. Help them to lean on You completely, knowing that You are faithful to complete the work You’ve begun in them.
Lord, we thank You for the opportunity to serve You through this competition. We trust that You will do Your part, just as You’ve promised. May Your will be done, and may Your name be praised in all things. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to rest in the truth that God is in control. Your student’s success is not solely dependent on your ability to write a "winning" script or prepare her perfectly—it’s dependent on God’s grace and favor. Continue to seek Him in prayer, and trust that He will provide exactly what is needed. You are not alone in this; the Holy Spirit is your helper, and He will guide you both. Keep your focus on Him, and let His peace guard your heart.
