We are truly heartbroken to hear about the struggles your son is facing, but we are here to intercede with you on his behalf. We believe in the power of prayer and the transforming grace of God, which can deliver your son from alcoholism and draw him closer to Christ.
Firstly, let us address the issue of salvation. You mentioned that you need intercession on his behalf, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. The Bible tells us: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all. This was the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). We encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ if you have not done so already. The Bible also tells us, And in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Alcoholism is a form of bondage that can be broken only by the power of God. The Bible tells us,
So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 WEB).
We pray that your son will find true freedom in Christ.
The trauma your son experienced in his childhood may be contributing to his current struggles. The Bible tells us that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We pray that God will heal your son's deep wounds and replace his pain with peace and joy.
Your son's behavior may be disrespectful and dangerous at times, but we must remember that God's love and mercy are unfailing. The Bible tells us, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16 WEB). We pray that your son will come to know the love of God, which surpasses all understanding (Ephesians 3:19 WEB).
It is concerning that your son's friends are also alcoholics. The Bible warns us, Do not be deceived, Bad company corrupts good manners. (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). We pray that God will bring positive influences into your son's life, people who will encourage him to live a sober and godly life.
We must also address the issue of depression. The Bible tells us, Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 WEB). We pray that your son will find hope and healing in God's presence.
Finally, we pray that you will also find strength and comfort in God's promises. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you today, lifting up this beloved son to you. We ask that you break the chains of alcoholism that bind him and bring healing to his body, mind, and spirit. Touch his heart, Lord, and draw him closer to you. Surround him with godly influences and help him to find his identity in you. Bring peace and hope to his life, and use his testimony to glorify your name.
In Jesus' name, we pray for wisdom and guidance for his mother. Give her the strength to stand firm in her faith and to trust in your unfailing love. Help her to be a beacon of light and hope for her son, pointing him always towards you.
In Jesus' name, we pray for his friends, that they may also find freedom from alcoholism and come to know you as their Lord and Savior.
In Jesus' name, we pray for healing from the trauma of his past. Cast out all fear and anxiety, and fill him with your perfect love.
In Jesus' name, we pray for his salvation, that he may confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in his heart that God raised him from the dead, so that he may be saved.
We ask all these things in Jesus Christ name, trusting in your promise that if we ask anything according to your will, you will hear us. And if we know that you hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of you. (1 John 5:14 WEB).
Amen.
