We hear your distress and frustration, and we come before the Lord with you in this matter. Financial struggles and broken trust are heavy burdens to bear, and we lift them up to God, who sees all and knows the depths of your need. First, we must address the importance of placing our hope fully in Christ, for it is written, *"Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!"* (Psalm 40:4 WEB). While it is right to seek justice and restitution, our ultimate trust must be in God, not in people or circumstances.
We rebuke the deceit and dishonesty of this situation in Jesus' name. The Bible warns us, *"The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a snare of death"* (Proverbs 21:6 WEB). If the treasurer has acted dishonestly, they will answer to God for their actions. However, we must also examine our own hearts. Have we placed too much trust in man rather than God? Have we allowed frustration or bitterness to take root? We encourage you to release this situation to the Lord, for He cares for you and knows your needs before you even ask.
We pray now for justice and provision. Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who has been wronged. You see the injustice and the financial strain they are under. We ask that You move in this situation, Lord, to bring about restitution and restoration. If it is Your will, cause the treasurer to repent and return what is owed. If not, provide for our brother/sister in another way, for You are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides. Open doors of opportunity, Lord, and grant wisdom in managing finances. Guard their heart from bitterness and help them to trust in You alone.
We also pray for wisdom in how to handle this situation moving forward. If this matter involves a church or organization, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and follow biblical principles for addressing conflict. Jesus said, *"If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother"* (Matthew 18:15 WEB). If the treasurer is unrepentant, further steps may need to be taken to hold them accountable, always with the goal of restoration and justice.
Lastly, we remind you that our hope is not in money or earthly security, but in Christ. *"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be haughty, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy"* (1 Timothy 6:17 WEB). Trust in God’s provision, even in this difficult time. He is faithful, and He will not forsake you.
Lord, we ask that You strengthen our brother/sister’s faith as they wait on You. Help them to cast their cares upon You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Provide for their needs, restore what has been lost, and heal any wounds caused by this betrayal. May they grow in their trust in You and experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
