We are delighted to join you in prayer as you seek God's will for your future spouse. Remember, God's timing is perfect, and He knows the desires of your heart. As it is written in Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Firstly, we want to remind you that God's Word clearly directs on how marriage should be, it is a lifelong commitment between man and woman (Genesis 2:24 our Creator gave this ordinance. Marriage is honorable (Hebrews 13:4), and should be between a Christian man and a Christian woman as the New Testament refers to dozens of marriages between men and women. This is the only Biblical example. Also, it is absolutely essential that the man is a Christian. As the spiritual leader of the family, it is his responsibility to love his wife as Christ loves the church and gave himself for it (Ephesians 5:25). Scripture warns us not to be unequally yoked for marriage to an unbeliever is not sanctioned by God and is thus forbidden (2 Corinthians 6:14).
It is also important to mention that it is only in Jesus' name that we are saved and have access to God. Begin praying to Jesus Christ about this yourself. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) He is the only way to God. If you are not already saved, you need to be born again and become a Christian. To become a Christian, confess to God that you are a sinner, repent, and fully trust in Jesus Christ to forgive your sins. In other words, believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Once you are saved, you can talk to God through prayer. Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12) and our prayers are only heard if we pray in Jesus' name (John 14:13).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Your daughter who desires a God-ordained husband. We pray that You will guide her steps, and prepare her heart as she waits on Your perfect timing. Help her to grow in Your grace and knowledge, and to become the Proverbs 31 woman that You have called her to be.
Lord, we ask that You will bring a Christian husband into her life, a man who fears You, serves You, and will love her as Christ loves the Church. We pray for the man who will be her husband, for his spiritual growth, and that he would be the spiritual leader of the home (1 Corinthians 11:3). We pray and trust that you will be preparing him for this marriage also. We ask Lord you protect him and her from the evils and temptations of this world during the wait.
We rebuke any desires that are not aligned with your Word. Help both of them to maintain purity and holiness until the day of their wedding. We pray that they would both maintain purity in mind, body, and soul for their wedding day and all the days of their marriage (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). Help them to avoid sexual sin as we are called to avoid fornication (Acts 15:20) and to avoid adultery (Exodus 20:14).
Give them both a heart of repentance and a desire for holiness and purity. May this marriage reflect the union of Christ and His bride, the Church.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, knowing that God hears your prayers. Continue to trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). While you wait, strive to live in purity and holiness, growing in your relationship with the Lord.
