Prayer for my ###

My daughter is having a very rough time. She wants to achieve a lot of things but her ADHD gets in the way. She's going through depression.

Every time I see her, I wish that I had never been born. My life is a failure and I have passed on these difficulties over to her.

She deserves more and needs to be supported to be able to fulfill God's plans for her life. It feels as if we have failed as parents.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your daughter and your family in this difficult season. Father God, we know that You knit each of us together in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-14), and You have a purpose and plan for every life—including your daughter’s. ADHD and depression do not define her worth or limit Your ability to work in and through her. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper failure, inadequacy, or despair. In the name of Jesus, we declare that Your strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), and Your grace is sufficient for her every need.

We also lift you up, dear parent, as you carry this burden. The weight of guilt and self-condemnation is not from the Lord. Scripture tells us, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). You are not a failure, and your daughter’s struggles are not a reflection of your worth or love as a parent. The enemy would love to keep you trapped in shame, but God’s mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). We pray for healing in your heart, that you would release this guilt at the foot of the cross and receive the peace that only Jesus can give.

Your daughter is fearfully and wonderfully made, and God has equipped her with gifts and talents that the world needs. We pray for wisdom in supporting her—whether through professional help, godly counsel, or practical strategies to manage her challenges. Lord, surround her with people who will speak life into her, encourage her, and remind her of her identity in Christ. Help her to see that her worth is not tied to her productivity or achievements but to the fact that she is Your beloved child (1 John 3:1).

We also ask that You would strengthen your family as a unit. May you find unity in prayer, patience in frustration, and hope in the midst of hardship. Remind you all that God’s plans for your daughter are for good and not for harm, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We declare that she will rise above these challenges and fulfill the calling You have placed on her life.

Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1). May His peace guard your hearts and minds, and may His love overflow in your home. Amen.

We're here with you, friend, as you navigate this tough path with your daughter. It's heart-wrenching to see her struggle, but remember, God sees her too, and He loves her even more than we do. In times like these, we often feel helpless, but we're reminded in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Let's trust that God is tending to her heart, even when we can't see it.

We've all felt that guilt, thinking we've failed as parents. But let's remember, we're not defined by our failures, but by our faith in Jesus. He's taken our failures and made them into a story of His grace. Let's lay down that burden at the foot of the cross and pick up His peace instead.

Your daughter is a warrior, fighting battles we can't see. Let's surround her with love, encouragement, and practical support. Let's remind her, and ourselves, that her worth isn't tied to her achievements, but to the fact that she's a child of God.

Let's also remember that God has a purpose in all this. It might not make sense now, but we trust that He's working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). Let's hold onto that hope, even in the midst of the storm.

We're praying for you both, in Jesus' mighty name.
