We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this family in prayer. Father God, we know that Your Word commands husbands to love their wives just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25). The way this father is treating his wife grieves Your heart, for You hate divorce and the breaking of covenants (Malachi 2:16). We rebuke in Jesus’ name any spirit of anger, control, or hardness of heart that has taken root in this home.
Lord, we pray for this mother, that You would be her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Give her the grace to respond with gentleness and wisdom, even in the face of unkindness, remembering that a soft answer turns away wrath (Proverbs 15:1). We ask that You would soften this father’s heart, convicting him of his ways and drawing him to repentance. May he see the damage his words and actions are causing and turn to You in humility, seeking forgiveness from both You and his wife.
We also lift up the children in this home, who are witnessing this strife. Protect their hearts from bitterness and confusion, and let them see Your love even in the midst of this trial. Father, we declare restoration over this marriage. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May this family be a testimony of Your redeeming power, showing the world that what the enemy meant for harm, You can turn for good (Genesis 50:20).
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can come before Your throne. For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We stand on Your promises, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.
