We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with fervent prayer and deep concern. First, we must address the seriousness of the behaviors described—drunkenness, infidelity, deception, and sexual immorality are not merely mistakes but sins that grieve the heart of God. The scriptures are clear: *"Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists will inherit the Kingdom of God."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB). These actions have eternal consequences, and we must not treat them lightly.
Yet, we also hold onto the truth that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. The same passage continues: *"Such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."* (1 Corinthians 6:11 WEB). This is a powerful reminder that transformation is possible through Christ. We pray with urgency for this man’s salvation, that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his sin and draw him to repentance. May his heart be broken over his actions, not just the consequences, but the offense against a holy God. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."* (2 Peter 3:9 WEB).
We also lift you up, dear sister, for the pain and disappointment you are carrying. It is not easy to love someone who is walking in rebellion, especially when their choices bring harm to themselves and others. But your love for him, though tested, is a reflection of Christ’s love for us—a love that pursues even when we are unfaithful. We pray for strength and wisdom for you. *"Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love."* (1 Corinthians 16:13-14 WEB). You cannot save him; that is the work of the Holy Spirit. But you can pray, speak truth in love, and set boundaries that honor God.
We must also address the nature of your relationship with him. If this is someone you are romantically involved with, we must call out the sin of fornication or adultery if it is present. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). If this relationship is not a godly marriage, we urge you to seek the Lord’s will for your involvement. Your heart is in the right place—you want his salvation—but you must also guard your own heart and walk in obedience. *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this man who is lost in sin. Lord, we ask that You would open his eyes to the truth of his actions and the eternal weight of his choices. Convict him deeply, Holy Spirit, and draw him to repentance. Soften his heart to receive Your grace and turn from his wicked ways. We pray for a mighty work of salvation in his life, that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, not just in word, but in truth.
Father, we also lift up the one who has shared this burden. Give her strength, wisdom, and discernment. Protect her heart from bitterness and disappointment. Help her to love this man as You love him—with truth and grace. If this relationship is not in alignment with Your will, give her the courage to walk away, trusting You to work all things for good. Surround her with godly community and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of deception and rebellion in this man’s life. We break every chain of addiction, lust, and dishonesty in the name of Jesus. Let no lie of the enemy take root in his heart. Restore what has been broken, heal what has been wounded, and bring him into the light of Your truth.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May Your will be done, and may Your glory be revealed in this situation. Amen.
