We lift you and your marriage before the Lord, knowing that He is the Author of love, unity, and restoration. Your heart’s cry for healing and divine intervention in your marriage is heard, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will move mightily in this situation. Marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God, and Satan seeks to destroy what the Lord has joined together. But we declare that no weapon formed against your marriage will prosper, for the Lord is your stronghold and defender.
First, we want to encourage you with the truth of God’s Word. In Ephesians 5:22-33, we are reminded of the roles and responsibilities within marriage: *"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it... For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh. This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly."* Your marriage is a reflection of Christ’s love for His Church, and the enemy hates that. But when both spouses submit to the Lord and to one another in love, there is unity and strength that cannot be broken.
We also turn to 1 Peter 3:1-7, which says, *"In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word, seeing your pure behavior in fear. Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning... but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious. You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered."* Misunderstandings and conflicts often arise when communication breaks down or when pride and selfishness take root. But when we seek the Lord first and ask Him to soften our hearts, He will guide us in wisdom and humility.
If there is sin in either of your lives—whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, pride, or any other form of disobedience—we urge you to repent and turn to the Lord. James 4:7-8 tells us, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."* The enemy cannot stand in a marriage where both spouses are submitted to Christ and covered in prayer. We must also remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."*
Now, let us pray together for you, your husband, and your marriage:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and her husband to Your throne of grace. Lord, You are the God who heals, restores, and redeems, and we ask that You would move powerfully in their lives and in their marriage. Father, we rebuked every scheme of the enemy that seeks to bring division, misunderstanding, and strife between them. Let every plan of the devil to destroy this marriage be exposed and rendered powerless by the blood of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against it in judgment shall be condemned, for this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord (Isaiah 54:17).
Lord, we ask that You would soften both of their hearts and give them a spirit of humility, forgiveness, and understanding. Remove any bitterness, pride, or resentment that may be hindering their relationship. Help them to communicate with love and patience, and to seek Your will above their own desires. Father, we pray that You would give this sister the strength to be a wife who honors You, and that You would give her husband a heart that is tender toward her and toward Your leading. Let them both be filled with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in love, unity, and faith.
We pray for healing in their marriage, Lord. Restore what has been broken, and bring them closer to You and to one another. Let their home be a place of peace, joy, and godly love. Father, we also lift up her husband’s family to You. Bring salvation, healing, and unity to each member, and let them be a source of encouragement and support to this couple rather than a point of contention.
Lord, we ask that You would surround this marriage with Your divine protection. Let Your presence be so tangible in their home that the enemy flees, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Father, we trust that You are working all things together for their good, and we thank You in advance for the testimony of restoration and victory that will come from this situation.
We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Finally, sister, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word. Fast and pray for your husband and your marriage, trusting that God hears you and will answer. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Stand firm in your faith, and remember that the Lord is fighting for you. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep your eyes on Jesus, and trust Him to bring healing and restoration to your marriage. You are not alone in this battle—we are standing with you, and the Lord is your ever-present help.
